Long finned blue eye lemon BN

???he is a terrible father!
He was tempted out of his cave for food Tonight, got spooked, left the eggs to hide, came back a few min later to eat and then went back in the cave. I don’t think these eggs will hatch. Though they are still nice and bright yellow. I’m not pulling them from him as he clearly need the practice

So today is day 5 my male has been on eggs. I peeked into his cave. The eggs look like a smaller batch now. Some were seen as wrigglers in the back of the cave with large yolk sacs. Most were still in the clutch of eggs...still Unhatched I presume....I’m anxiously awaiting their appearance out of the cave

So I got really nervous about losing all the fry and I pulled about 20 wrigglers from dad (I just dumped a few into the breeding trap..felt good on my ocd that it was a nice even number). I believe the dad was left with between 20-30

they are doing well! I think they are going to be regular brown bn, which to be fair was expected. Their eyes look black.

Lots of updates for this thread!!

map I ended up selling off two of the smaller lemons. They were unsexed as they were fairly small.

I’ve also managed to sex my remaining lemons.

I have 4 males and 2 females. I will most likely be rehoming one male in the next couple of days as they have started turf wars tonight. It was the most beautiful turf war I have seen...long flowing fins everywhere!
The guy I’m going to rehome has developed a black spot on his tail, I know some people like these random black spots. I however do not. I think they ruin the look the of lemons.

Didn’t need to pull the wrigglers from dad but understandable as it’s his and your first time. Dad should care for the wrigglers for the next week or two until they are fully formed fish which he eventually either cannot keep in one corner of his cave or he gets to a point he sends them out on their own. Shortly after feeding well he will be looking to do it all again, so you could conceivably have batches of wrigglers as often as every 4 to 6 weeks depending on the female.
If mum was blue eyed lemon too they will be blue eyed lemon. If mum was brown you could get a mix of brown, blue eyed lemon and calico.

It seemed like his batch of eggs was getting smaller and smaller so I wanted to make sure I had some of the fry. I needed to know what they will look like.
Mom was a short fin albino.
Depending on these babies I might be rehoming her as well.
