Long finned blue eye lemon BN

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I can see why the guys I pulled from dad are growing fast...they have been amply supplied with food. I peeked in the cave and the ones inside with dad look just as big as the ones I Pulled. They haven’t even left the cave yet. Does this mean dad has been bringing them food? Are BN males known to bring their babies food? I can’t see the cave fry growing as fast bc there’s no food inside the cave..it completely clean not even algae grows in there?

Tbh I don't know but that would be awesome if the male did bring food in the cave.

I have no evidence but have often wondered if they were a little like discus and the young bristlenose fed a little off dad.
I have been the nosiest fry watcher ever, I’m surprise the male hadn’t abandoned or eaten them. I’m in the cave with a light several times a day.

I haven’t seen the fry on dad (hunting they might be eating slime coat) I have noticed the dad leave briefly and then goes back the the cave...once another pleco took his cave with his babies....I was worried for them briefly. But he took back his cave and babies, I haven’t noticed any food particles in the cave either.

they're getting ample food though. They should be coming out of the cave any day now as they keep moving close to the cave opening.

I’m so fascinated with the whole process

I feel like I have some longfin browns in this batch....I’m getting more excited!
I have also found a buyer for the babies who will take any and all when they reach 1 inch.

pics are not the best but I think this baby might be LF

glad you posted those pictures as I keep double checking if one of the new blue-eyed lemon babies I got are long-finned same body and a long caudal fin. think all of the bought babies are about an inch and a half 2 inches. again I think this is the case but it always swims off quicker than I can get an accurate look.

At about an inch or two you should be able to tell if it is a longfin without hesitation, unless it’s tail was damaged.

My fry are two weeks old now and measuring in at 3/4 of an inch. I feel like they are growing quickly.

They are! Mom and dad are very elegant. I personally don’t like the look of normal bristlenose pleco’s because of the weird things coming out of their nose, but the Lemon BP’s are gorgeous. Good luck!
