Long finned blue eye lemon BN

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They are! Mom and dad are very elegant. I personally don’t like the look of normal bristlenose pleco’s because of the weird things coming out of their nose, but the Lemon BP’s are gorgeous. Good luck!
Thank you!

I’m not a fan of short fins...especially the females...I’d prefer a male bc of the bristles lol

female longfins are great looking though haha

So I found about 8 babies inside the main tank that have slipped past me. I’m not concerned as I’m soon going to be letting the other babies out of the breeder box and unleashing them to fend for their own food so to speak.

there’s one fry in the main tank that is a shortfin but he’s jet black. I know bn plecos can change colors to blend in with surroundings..bit I was wondering if jet black was an actual color morph? All the other fry are brown/grey with light brown markings

I just went to disturb my male to get the fry out of his cave to move them into a grow on tank ( trying to get them before they disperse round the tank) and found a piece of mussel meat in with them that I am assuming he has brought them. More surprising though is that he is already sat on another clutch of eggs. Usually the fry grow a little more and move out of his cave before he sits another clutch. Makes me wonder if he is breeding with multiple females.

Is your female Blue eyed?
Her pattern looks more leucistic brown bristlenose than a L144 and that could explain why your babies are calico.
I have not known two gene tied (L144)produce offspring reverting back before ( although am sure it happens)

That is cool!!! I would assume he is def bringing them food.

that is also strange that he has eggs and fry in a cave! Maybe he just wants to produce more of him so he can take over the world mwahahaha

The female my guy bred with was an albino shortfin. I do have two female blue eyed lemons. I was also 100% expecting common brown fry. It’s been well documented before I paired them. I do want a longfin brown female to breed with him or one of his brothers. Also no one in my area is currently breeding longfin commons.

I’m not sure how familiar you are with l144 and the blue eyed lemons...but there are no more l144’s in the hobby. Anyone who advertises their stock as l144’s is actually selling false l144’s...it has become the common known name for the blue eyed lemons.

When I sell my blue eyed lemons I will label them as “longfin/shortfin blue eyed lemon, ancistrus sp.”
