it's really just for more clarification. While it may seem like it's creating more confusion it's actually avoiding more. Technically you could call all of the (using laps for a better example) kolibas, kolotons, and faranah laps Guinean lapradei. However there's differences between them all. Just like with endlis Faranah, dabola, Milo, you could also call them Guinean endlis. The thing that I don't think is understood too well is the whole sp. dabola thing. Dabola, like many other places, is a collection points. So the endli dabola is merely an endli collected in the dabola area. When talking about Sp. Dabola it's crucial that we not overlook the "Sp." The Sp. and lack of a lapradei or endlicheri name preceding it, clarified that it isn't a described species but rather an unknown. Same with the kolibas. We have shortened it to just Koliba, but they're known as Polypterus Lapradei Sp. Koliba. The preceding lapradei indicates it's a lapradei and the Sp. Koliba indicates that it's from that collection area and appears different, but is still known as a lapradei. Not sure if that clarifies things any more, but long story short. It's clarifies things more than it creates confusions lolBoth look really nice. All these new acquisitions I'm seeing are giving me the itch!
I really hate how Toyin has dubbed these "Endli Dabola". I know its just a collection point, but it creates confusion with Sp. Dabola.
I would guess these were collected at or near the same place and considering Dabola and Faranah are right next to each, it would make more sense to me to just call it Faranah Endli for simplicity sake.
