Some smooth rocks and good tankmates, could be similarly sized Golden Shiners, Slender madtoms and Stonecats; let me just say the driftwood was a excellent idea....Rays of Sunshine has a cool thread here on his "driftwwod tank" with a few fish in it (it looks cool and his fish love it). I have always been too scared to try driftwood, but in the future I am definately going to incorporate it into my tank setup.Foxlarocks;4252384;4252384 said:what do you guys think I should add?
Collecting natives is out of the question sadly
Lol sorry, I didnt look at your profile.....I dont make that mistake very often. Your welcome about the compliment I dont give them unless theyre true. Hmmmn Ill definately look into more filtration.....thanks. I have read about people introducing parasites into their tank with driftwood, so Im going to bake the driftwood I find in the sun for a spell before introducing it to the tank.Rays of Sunshine;4253722;4253722 said:Hey Warmouth thanks for the compliment, I am a lady. If you add the massive sized driftwood similar to mine, you have to have strong filtration.
The fresher the driftwood the more is going to turn the color a more reddish color because it is still leeching. If you get the driftwood from the store most of the time it won't leech as bad.
Also, you will know if you don't have strong filtration by the smell coming out of the tank. I had to add another filter when I added the largest piece. The smell was eliminated.
Foxlarocks, I think your tank is fine for your fish. If your fish get too aggressive, add more territories. All you need to do to create territory, is break the ability of a fish to clearly see another. You can use what ever objects you want.
Kitty, you need more filtration. The large pleco and goldfish(if you still have them) are called massive "Poop Machines," by everyone who owns them. What you are doing with the water changes,etc...will help.
