LOOK AT MY TANK

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How much gallons is that 10? but yea i would suggest to take the castels out and potery and most of the other crap in there and go with white or black sand. And put the drift wood in the middle maybe silicone it to the glass? and put two amazon sword plants in the back ground. And do more frequent water changes or is that peat filtration?

Ok bro, you can get rid of the substrate, but you don't have to get tahitian moon sand since its very expensive. I would get pool filter sand, its maybe 10 dollars for 50 pounds and you can get it a pool store or a home depot or lowes.

Next thing, the lid you might want, you could get plexi glass to fit it, or you could go to home depot int he fluorescent light aisle and get something called eggcrate diffuser. Its a white plastic rectangle that you can cut to fit the tank.

Ok now for the decor. I understand how much it benefits the cichlids to have that much of a hiding place because the tank isn't too big, but I think the first setting was a little better. Try to give the top of the tank free swimming and the bottom intricate hiding places.

I think you have some good stuff (the driftwood, clay stuff) and I am sure the fish like to not see each other all the time, but this woudl really be a better tank for Mbuna african cichlids at the moment since there isn't much free swimming room.

Good luck, and remember to only change the stuff around to how you like it. You have to deal with it, its your tank, you make it the way you like it. We are only here to provide suggestions.

definately go with less stuff, as poopsmart stated you can get pool filter sand and its a lot cheaper and i personally use it and like how it looks. i got mine from meijer for $8 for a 50lb bag. keep the nice piece of driftwood and some of the clay pots and add some nice looking fake plants and it should look nice. if thats a 29g like i think it is you can do some nice stuff with it. i have a 29g and i have only two pieces of fake driftwood in there and it looks nice. so try to tone down the decor and you should end up with a nice tank. good luck with every thing

not trying to be rude, but that looks terrible (not that mine look all that great) LOL

1. Remove Castles, Pots, Shells, all that other crap.
2. Go either barebottom or get some filter sand.
3. Sink Driftwood by using stainless steel screws in slate or silicon, and bury the slate.

That driftwood is easily enough cover for a pair of Firemouth, or are you still keeping too many fish in such a small tank?
