i wouldn't be posting pics of that. Sorry, i don't care for the castle. You could clean that up a little and it would look good. Put a backing on the tank, take out the castle and a few other things as well. I'm not a fan of the gravel either. With me it needs to be white or natural. Sand looks good too.
Where in WI are you? I live in Kansas and have a bro in Wisconsin. I have plenty of black gravel that I would ship to you free of charge. I also have some plants I could ship. If interested PM me.

I don't understand why everyone is telling this guy he needs fancy sand in there. Cichlids dig, and move substrate, especially the FM's I'vehad. That fish starts blowing out sand next to his filter intake and it's gonna grind it to pieces IMO. Why not keep it cheap and simple . Just go with black gravel. Your FM's color will pop out more with a dark substrate.
I'd seriously stop buying the cheesy garage sale fish tank stuff like casteles and other plastic thingy's but thats just my opinion. I think with a little work, and a plan your tank will be in great shape in no time.
Wish I had some extra items to send your way too. I think trying to hook this guy up with some extras ppl have laying around is a great idea.

Finally someone who is prepared to help out with the tank rather than criticise, Its all too easy to put down other people's efforts at aquascaping. I remember having the multicoloured gravel complete with fake bridge and no fishing sign lol. Im sure we have all been there one time or another.
I wish i lived the other side of the pond so i could help out. Just remember to enjoy your tank, Consider the conditions your fish are going to be living in (swimming space and hiding places) and don't always follow the crowd if you like it then thats all that matters.
