That's a common snapper. Grows quick as lightning and will eat anything that moves. Very active and good hunters. You will need a 350+ gallon tank to house it for life.
But he thinks a 180g should be fine.

Thats what you said about your Oscars. I would drop money that they are now stunted.
Hey sir, you are so wrong! 55gal is perfect for the turtle! But he thinks a 180g should be fine.
Not all oscars reached their full sized in smaller tanks. I bet you more oscars died in smaller tank than the ones reached their full sized in the smaller tanks but I doubt it that they are more than 10".They are actually growing fine and are looking great. Do you know how many Oscars reach full size in 55 gallon or smaller tanks? People everywhere keep them in tanks smaller or exactly 55 gallons. I gurantee they won't be stunted in a 55. Although they aren't going to be in a 55 much longer

Not many do, its doable but only by people know who know how to do it. And kinda big is full grown and doesn't mean its not stunted.

Yes I've seen a full grown unstunted oscar in a 39 bow front. I'll see if my uncle has any pics. He had it about 5 years ago. It grew up from about 1.5" to full grown in that tank.
