I fully understand each person has the right to their own opinion and I don't mean to stand in the way of anyone's opinion... But stating opinions as facts gets in the way of other's formulating their own opinions. And stating an opinion as a fact with a "to me" disclaimer on the end isn't even proper English, so it further promotes misunderstandings.
Consider facts and facts alone...
Blue Dempseys are an unexplained oddity... they have several features that greatly differ from their supposed Standard Morph. We have plenty of reason to wonder if they are hybrids...
Blue color morphs of other animals have been documented. Blue Tegus are an example. They are not "Electric" blue but brilliant blue coloration has been understood in some fish species. If you wish to educate yourself on this topic I suggest starting with the term cyanophores on this Wikipedia page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromatophore#Xanthophores_and_erythrophores
They guy (Hector Luzardo) credited for discovering, possibly creating, Blue Dempseys claimed they were not hybrids until the day he died. Some of the people Hector first share Blue Dempseys with claim they are hybrids but no one has publicly accused Hector of ever saying they are hybrids. People who knew Hector openly admit Hector had little to nothing to gain by lying.
Some people claim to have visited facilities related to (but not run by) Hector and saw the hybrid making process first hand. This doesn't explain much as it's silly to think that the hybrid people haven't tried to make Blue Dempsey hybrids with other species or to try to mimic the Blue Dempseys via hybridization.
Blue Dempseys breed out the exact same way as other well documented color morphs (such as Leucistic or Albino fish). They do not breed out like hybrids. (this is a very critical point from my understanding).
No one has been able to simulate the Blue Dempsey via hybridization...
2 sets of genetic testing have been done and the full results have been released (one of which is posted above by J Aqua, thanks J). Neither test could conclusively say they are not hybrids 100%, but those who understand this testing process understand that a 100% conclusion was not expected with this form of testing. 100% confirmation testing would cost well into the 100's of thousands of dollars and take an emmense amount of time/work.
Neither set of testing show any signs of hybridization.
Now there's the facts. Feel free to consider them and formulate your own opinion. But when sharing your opinion, share it as just that, an opinion. Don't state it as a fact. Don't state it as a fact with a "to me" on the end, which doesn't even really make sense.
That's like me saying "You're a monkey to me" my opinion has absolutely no bearing on your being a monkey or not. Either you are a monkey or you are not. Instead, I should word it "in my opinion I think you're a monkey".
...and no MAC, I don't think you are a monkey nor do I think you have any more monkey like qualities than the rest of us. I was only making a harmless example. I hope it was read that way. No offense meant... it just drives me up a wall to see so much misinformation spread via improper wording...
Best wishes to all... I hope this helped someone
