I realize there seems to be very few for sale but why?? Are they on the verge of being an endangered species in the wild or something?? Perhaps they are so elusive and hard to catch only Captain Ahab could get the job done. You would think with the demend there is for these fish someone would be finding a way to bring them in and cash in on it...I remember sometime last year piraya were the holy grail, rumors were flying that there would be no more piraya brought into the states then after all the hype WHAM right before x-mas every vendor had em...

i am not experienced in tropical fish import biz so i couldn't tell you from self experience. they are a popular game fish in Central america. All i'm gonna say is don't get your hopes up. i've been looking for nearly 8 years, and have done everything from buying the wrong species to never hearing from importers and etc. your best bet is to look into a place like sharkaquarium, he's imported probably the most i know of. a 31"er and mabey one a little smaller.

Yeah I have already emailed george just waiting for a reply...Now thinking about it more, these fish are from vz primarily and isnt it tough right now to get fish outta there...Even if that is the case it hasn't been 8 yrs that imports from there have been tough...Maybe george will have an explanation for me.

through the years the speciemens avalible to myself were in the $2500-4000 and at the time i didn't feel the fish warrented that kind of money, i soon found i was mistaken. note that japan and other countries with bigger fish industy's get first grabs on most of these fish.

Saying they aren't extremely rare in the wild I wonder how many fry a breeding pair produces...One would think if they produce large batches eventualy someone would stumble on a good number of young aimara and ship em out to us.If they only throw very small batches maybe that would explain the lack of these fish being imported at young ages.

are you willing to spend $1000+ minimum? There wont all of a sudden be a 99% price drop even if someone stubbles upon 100 of them.

more than likely price will inflate exuberantly accually, if someone import 100 adults to america there would be alot more hubub about them and people who otherwise wouldn't know what they are would now, creating much more demand for the fish.
