ahh man! that’s maybe 2023.... i shouldn’t start stacking 8’ tanks....maybe excess?

?
Did you forget what site you’re on? Come on ? a double stacked 8’ tank is nothing.... once you start double stacking 20’ tanks then you should start worrying

Would it be possible to talk with the neighbors behind you and see if their paved driveway could be used for an hour or 2? This would eliminate having to carry it over so much uneven grass.

there is not a clean pass through, i’d have to cut down bushes - then i’d still have to go down.... i’m gonna measure the window and see how much i can take out... otherwise it’s looking 6’ers

The wife won't be happy when a 140" glass tank leaks...... get a custom acrylic (made by a reputable manufacturer) for that length

Or, wait for it, get a new wife...

But I agree acrylic is way better than glass. However comma they also can leak.

i thought about that.... she does show some interest.... it would be different to do this with an equally enthusiastic counterpart-

i’d probably have 1/2 the tanks... other half would be hers and would be full of guppies.... like 400 gallons of guppies ?

anywho - kicking around the two less popular options...

6’ers are what i had planned in the beginning- then tank builder raised price -

that’s probably what i’ll end up going with as -

i’d have 5 tanks on display and 2-4 qt in qt room

625g - 8’
???g - 10’
280g - 6 ‘ x 2
150g - 4’

cheers all for feedback and participation in my poll ?

This was my first thought. I'd only go acrylic for bigger tanks for the weight and bc they are way less likely to leak. From what I've read, glass will eventually leak bc silicone will fail but acrylic should last a lifetime of properly built and installed. Several places, like Midwest Custom Aquariums have a life time guarantee (of course such a guarantee didn't help tenecor owners when they went out of business).

I'm biased bc I live in a condo. I probably wouldn't do more than 40g in glass at this point. I'm trying to plan an acrylic replacement for my 125g glass now.

This 625g sounds great.

Would wife be interested in something like mbu puffer? I've shown several woman the video of the Aquarium Coop Murphy eating clams and they seemed to be drawn to that. I guess bc it seems more like a normal pet bc it's big, seems to react more to people than a bunch of fish sitting in an aquarium (i disagree in that I love community tanks etc but I can see why the reaction is different to a solo fish like that).

thanks 625g is up and doing well!

i’m sure she would, i’d love to have a couple but i try not to keep non dry food eating fish -

i thought about one for that odd 4’x30”x30” buts it’s really too small id imagine...

The spotted congo puffers (Tetraodon Schoutedeni) aresaid to be smaller versions of the mbu (as in similar personalities). They can go in a smaller tank and apparently can be kept in groups. When Cory did a podcast about them, the word was that the beak didn't seem to grow as much as in other puffers and they speculated that snails and clams might not be as necessary for them for keeping beak trim. I never saw follow up on that as Cory got rid of his collection.

I hear you about dry food fish. The mbu is on a while other level too. Where it might be possible to grow enough snails for a smaller puffer, mbu eat so much that you'd need to buy clams. Food bill on them is said to be like a $150-200 a month in clams.

Cory claims he got spotted congo puffers to eat vibra bites.

This video popped up in a search showing a good look of these feeding on snails:

ya, had to pull my L014 out of my 625g when i saw the teeth on the acyrlic - it’s my first acyrlic.... id imagine other pleco are less prone to surfing the glass...

Did you notice any scratches from that pleco they he might have caused prior to you taking him out?

I've searched about this on the forum before. Some swear they've kept panaques in acrylic tanks with no problems. Others claim there are scratches but it wasn't noticeable enough to bother them.

Just curious on your thoughts now. I guess you're worried about it, hence why you took him out. Would you keep regular plecos in there?

I ask as I'm still trying to figure out what I'll do when I eventually get my acrylic tank. The old hypostomus I have probably would be fine. If ingot a tank big enough for another pleco I wonder how I would feel about the scratching issue.
