Isolate him...then add some Slime coading, and some sea-salt.

I did both immediately. Also Maracyn-2. Next dose is tonight around 9ish.

oh crap....sorry :( the little white patches should be scales that have lost their outermost layer. how much time was it after you moved it before it became septicemic like this?

Bout 36 hours, probably less. I didn't check them before work on Sunday morning.

Wellthis stinks you're doing about all you can its really a time will tell and it will be a long recovery.Has he tried eating anything yet?
wishing and hoping for the best

I haven't offered any food yet. He isn't swimming around yet so I doubt it'd go over well. He did have a big dinner the night before it all happened, and he hasn't been eating like a hog since his growth spurt slowed down. I wouldn't worry about lack of food, at least for HIM, for at least a week more.

I DO feel a lot better if *you* say I've done everything I can though :) I figured if I forgot anything, you'd be the one who'd know lol

Sorry to hear about your Polli. I hope that he recovers. Bichirs are very hardy fish, and that helps in situations like this. Any other fish would have been gone by now. Hopefully he makes a full recovery. I'm rooting for him!

According to the M2 box, I'm supposed to do two packets last night (first day) and for the next 5 only do one packet. As far as I'm concerned, this is obviously an abnormally severe case of septicemia. Should I gamble and do two packets tonight as well??

Do you think your net could of had bacteria growing in it? It looks like a mad bacterial infection. I feel your pain on netting bichirs, these guys can jump out of a net in less than a blink of an eye. I have retrieved a couple of them off the floor with cat hair and lint on them. Good Luck

I suppose it might have, anything is possible. With no slime coating, he'd be insanely susceptible to just about everything out there.

Current update - -

He's still hanging in there, and has moved positions in the tank twice today. Still labored breathing, and looks very much the same. I medicated with Maracyn-2 again (just one of em) n added more StressCoat. I dumped the stuff directly on top of him basically. Tank temp has risen to 78 = gonna keep it riiiight there.

Kinda curious about something. If he's this debilitated, how is he supposed to come to the surface for air? He hasn't been doing that at all.
