Lost some fish last night.. /:

I'm sorry for your loss. :(
I would think that turning your filter off at night isn't a good idea either. In the time that your filter is off, it's drying out and all that good nitrifying bacteria is dying (not a cause of your nitrate, but still a good thing to avoid).
I think what Tstone is saying is that you can put the air stone inside your HOB filter that way the water going inside the filter will become aerated.
I wish the best of luck to you!

I don't totally understand what you're saying about the air stone and where to put it

He is talking about having the water that the filter puts back into the water push the air bubles back "down" into the water.

Sorry for ur loss...
Hope won't repeated again.

To hide the airstone,I think you need the ground spec airstone.so you can burried it under ur sand and cover it with the plants or rock.

Or you just need a water pump & let the air flow through it.

To put it in a nutshell you are insanely overstocked.. ATm the best thing you can do are frequent large water changes until you can get more tanks, or get rid of some of your fish... the RTc will eat anything he can fit in his mouth.. the raphs hard scales are likely saveing it atm.. ARTC's are notorious killers... I've seen them destroy entire tanks at 5"...gar will eat anything they can fit in their mouths and shouldn't be kept with skitterish fish as they will spook easily and either jump out or break their backs against the glass. imho your lucky that things aren't worse.

and don't get overly upset or discouraged. most aquariasts make theses mistakes, either they learn, or they think a few monthes is a long life for a fish.

Seriously, the funniest thing I've seen on this forum! Thank you.

Stick around, I'm here all week!

IM SAYING IF U HATE THE BUBBLES PUT THE AIRSTONE INSIDE THE HOB FILTER COMPARTMENT. I HAVE AN AC110 AND I USED TO HAVE A WAND IN IT SO THE AIR GETS INTO THE WATER THEN THE BUBBLY WATER IS BLASTED INTO THE TANK FROM THE HOB FILTER. EVEN IF THE WAND IS ONLY 2" UNDER THE WATERLINE IN THE HOB FILTER IT WILL WORK

Most of the oxygen from an airstone comes from it breaking the surface of the tank water and creating a gas exchange with the air above the tank.
