ok i have a lovely male HRP how always breeds with his not so pretty wife. i decide to selective breed, but i dont want to buy another fish for the already overstocked tank. so my question is how would i do this? is it like making an EBJD?

First you need a HRP.. Two to be exact

I agree. And selective breeding takes years and many tanks/spawns. If you're serious about it take a class or two on genetics. You'd have to define what you wanted to select, finnage, size, color, etc. than keep a log and work on enhancing and stabilizing the trait.

It's not easy.

Oh modest man reminded me. If you are serious, get a hold of that Firemouth guy that has had a breeding program going on for years and years. He has some amazing FM's that he has gotten from an extensive selective breeding program.
