I don't see why people are freaking out, it was just a 100 year old fish. At that age, they probably aren't doing much breeding, it fit all the guidelines and qualifications so it was all legal and whatnot. He couldn't very well have let it go after he speared it, nor could he have asked it how old it was.

He's a spearfisherman.
That's a fish.
He speared it.
Now it's dead.

The End.

I agree, I would have prefered to ceatch it on a rod & reel myself, but I am not a spearfishermen, he is so I don't hold a leagle (biologest endorced) ceatch agenst him.

we should all gang up and kill him there would be a new video on the news titled "Man Finds and Kills 100 Year Old Fish, Then Killed by Angry Mob of Fish Keepers"

I hope this is being sarcastic, we don't want to become animal activests.
Remember they don't want humans to use animals in any way, this includes pet fish!

pretty weak. killed a breeder sturgeon. cant afford to mount it. then what? i mean, at least eat the sob. he would do you the same honer lol

Nice fish!!! Legal, so no issue with me. It has been breeding for decades in a strong fishery. No where in the article does he say he is going to waste the fish. Not like he tossed it in the ditch on the way home.

its not about whether its was legal or not, its about the sadness of something that old being killed, i mean its cool that really is the catch of a life time and id love to be able to say i caught a fish that big one day but id like for it to be on rod n reel so i could take my pictures and then release the beast back to the wild, to me at least it is always sad to see something that has been on this world that long leave it in that way...

couldn't agree more...as a catch and release guy, it makes me feel good knowing its back out there...

as a side note, has anyone caught/eaten a sturgeon this size before? I know its been said before, but I'm just wondering what it tastes like-cant imagine something that old tasting good....
