Well I am not reading anything but the first post of the thread, but this is why things like boas should not be pets. I don't understand why people get wild animals as pets particularly the big ones. I think it's selfish.
and this is the kind of attitude and ignorance that hurts this hobby and many more . how is it selfish for someone to keep a pet they like responsibly? just becouse u dont understand our facination for thse unique animals should we not keep them?? i understand such accidents and deaths reflect bad on the reptile hobby but many other pets that are non reptile yearly produce much more deaths and accidents by far. should we limit those as well?Sorrowfulone;4242384; said:Well I am not reading anything but the first post of the thread, but this is why things like boas should not be pets. the ignorance in this statement is astounding! This is what hurts the hobby beyond belief. Ur "domestic" dogs cause a heck of alot more injurys and deaths than the wild animals us few keep.Sorrowfulone;4242384; said:Well I am not reading anything but the first post of the thread, but this is why things like boas should not be pets. PS u do know ur on a site that keeps wild animals right? simonL and soon myself keep caiman, many members keep venom, some memebers keep anaconda and most fish on MFK are wild caught.
pps i plan on eventually working on pulling a permit to get an african serval
Plus what alredy has been said what would you call a wild animal? 10.000 and 7000 years cernatly werent enough to take the wild insticts out of dogs and cats respectively, from the tiniest chiuaua to the biggest great dane, all domestic animals have wild insticts for their self preservation. And by the way, do you know that by all means a boa constrictor is a DOMESTICATED ANIMAL? They have been selectivily bred in captivity for many generations now, originating many diferent color morphs that are considerably diferent then wild fenotypes and bringing joy to herp keepers world wide. Boa constrictors are generaly a very calm peacefull species of snake. It is unlikely that this particular boa was a wild cauth, few wild cauth boas exist on the trade now a days due to the sucess of captive breeding programs. What is the diference between this horrible acident and any other domestic animal related acident?Sorrowfulone;4242384; said:Well I am not reading anything but the first post of the thread, but this is why things like boas should not be pets.
