Manny has already defeated two bigger fighters who walk around at even higher weights.Oscar De la Hoya was one and even though he is not what he was,he's still better than a lot thats near the top currently.Ricky Hatton is no clubfighter and look at what happened to him.Freddy Roach has said that Manny will probably not go past welter weight and he also has political aspirations so he may not be fighting for to much longer.

Like i said, Oscar came DOWN to fight Manny. The age factor and significant weight loss put Oscar at a disadvantage. Manny did put Oscar into permanent retirement. We can give him credit for that. Keep in mind that Oscar was an old fighter when he fought Manny. His skills were in great decline. It could've been a different fight if Oscar was in his prime. As far as Hatton goes, Manny beat him in his prime, but Hatton is no more than a brawler. He always had limited skills as was a product of the media. I've always liked Manny. I'm just saying that Cotto is a true match for Manny.

manny pacquiao is like anderson silva...he likes challenges and when no one wants to foght him in his division he will transfer to another weight class :p

I agree, Manny has fought all contenders within his weight classes, but keep in mind that Manny also moves up to chase the MONEY...It's always about money. Fighters move up due to natural weight-gain, due to age and they always have to chase the money. Money is a great motivator. Also, the winner of the Manny vs Cotto fight will probably meet Floyd Mayweather. That's a fight to be seen . . .

I already admitted and I agree with your points about Oscar but I feel that he is still as good as a lot of the current fighters. The way that Mayweather looked after so much time off was just scary, that is the fight to see.

Oscar WAS one of the greatest. Father Time caught up with him, as it does all great fighters. Oscar fought one fight too many, when he fought Manny. He should not have ever took that fight. He walked into the ring as a "Done fighter."

Unfortunately, most great fighters never know when to quit . . . And always take just a little of the luster from their legacy.

Oscar is a FIGHTER, boxers chose this to be their profession. Regardless if a fighter is going up in weight or down, it's not a reason that should be used as an excuse that they lost. That is why they train, train and train. They train to prepare for the fight. Condition their body to withstand the punishment in the ring. Watch videos of the opponents for hours and hours at a time to study technique and flaws. Spar with other boxers similar to style of the opponent. When they loose they should just accept the fact that other fighter was a better fighter and someone they under estimated. I've always been a fan of Oscar but for him to quite...blah!..

I'm also a fan of Cotto, if this was a fight against someone else, Cotto would be my pick. But soon as cotto lands his power punch, Pacman will have countered about half a dozen blows to Cotto before he can reset and cock his power punch again. I pick speed over this fight which I'm sure PACMAN will bring, I say nor more than 6 rounds =-) Pacman ftw..

This is true sportsmanship at it's finest. Makes no excuses and accepts the fact the other fighter that night was better than him

Boxing is a sport, but it's also dangerous. Boxers have died in the ring. If a boxer fights one too many fights, it can cause him severe brain damage or even his life. A fighter should know when to walk away from the sport and call it quits. There are many boxers walking around with severe brain damage because they stayed too long.

I agree with your statement but if that was the case, Oscar should have never stepped in the ring with Pacman. Oscar should have kept his mouth shut when he kept stating that someone will get knocked out for this fight. Whether it be him or Pacman, the fight will end in a TKO. That's why he has a corner? trainers that's suppose to be the eyes behind his back. Referee's that will stop the fight if they judge that you can't continue. They should have stopped the fight. Not repeatedly ask him in the corner while the camera was focus on Oscar if he wants to stop. It almost seemed as Oscar was thinking, "Are you seriously asking me while the camera is focused on me, just stop the fight damn it"....

I'm having trouble following your logic. In your first post, you seemed to like OScar. You even said you did, but in your second post, you're showing some dislike for Oscar. I like the sport of boxing. I have an appreciation for Oscar, Manny and Miguel. They all are making a contribution to the improvement of the sport. There was no reason to stop the Oscar/Manny fight. Oscar was out matched but would not quit. You said he was a true fighter, yourself. Oscar should not have took the fight because he was out matched from the beginning. He was an older fighter. Plus, he came down from middle weight to welter, which is a significant weightloss. It can drain a fighter of his strength. I think you feel that I'm trying to take from Manny's victory by implying that he beat an old man who had no chance. I'm not saying that. I'm saying that Manny won but Oscar was not the same fighter he once was. I'm also saying that I would've liked to have seen them meet during Oscar's prime.
