Alternative is Manzanita? i thought they were the best woods.

Anyways, where do i go to cut a Manzanita?

I found a site (Drs. Foster and Smith) who had some wood called Mopani wood. It's just as good as Manz, but different in shape IMO. Less rooty looking and more compact and layered? BUT, it was only4 bucks a piece for two pieces that are around 8 inches long, six inches tall and 3.5 - 4 inches wide = weighing in at about oh 6 lbs a pop. Just gotta boil and or soak em, i rinsed mine for four days, and still the water is a slight yellow to it, but i've heard a little tannin wont hurt.

Good luck!

Man. Wood is pretty good if you want the branchy look... Not so good if you want the blocky look. I would get my wood sandblasted and then soaked. The red color is just the bark which will go away. The wood will look brown under water.
