So the isn't anything I can do besides good water and garlic? Of anything I just really REALLY want to save the puffer as he is by far my favorite. Since he is scaleless is what worries me.
Question: He said he could get his hands on and set up a 12 gal. Is it at all practical to put the coral in the 12 gal and treat the DT? I mean, not necessarily with copper, but with something else that isn't guaranteed to be reef-safe but won't linger like that? I'm just throwing out a thought here...
the problem kelly is that even if you were to not use copper and go the hyposalinity route, all inverts in the rocks and a lot of the bacteria would die off, often essentially re-cycling a tank and adding more stress. I know it sucks but i'm on day 36 of my QT after doing the same thing you did adding a non-qted scopas tang and losing about $100 in fish including a pair of clowns i had over a year.

Just something else to think about... it's now in your main tank. Cryptocaryon will stay in the cyst stage for a VERY long time in that tank (substrate and rock). Pull fish out and treating them is only the start. Even if you get the fish cleaned up, they'll be exposed the instant you put them back.
At this point, without starting over 100%, your best bet is to have the goal of fish with a healthy enough immune system to fight off the parasite as they attack the fish.
the wrasse doesn't look that bad, now that I have seen him more. From what I have seen he has 6 spots, 5 on tail, 1 on his side fin. The other fish I believe have good immune systems. I will add garlic to their food and do my best for a stress free environment. Will this be the best way of doing things? Also how big of a QT tank would I need for those 5 fish i currently have?
a 20 long would be sufficient for your stock, just keep a close eye, puffers are fairly susceptible and don't do well with copper treatments.. may have to do hypo if they end up getting bad. If you go with the immune system option you're just gonna have to accept the fact that any fish you add in the future is gonna have a very high chance of getting infected
Man I have NO room at all for a 20. I guess I am going to have to go with the immune option. Also if I do end up losing all of the fish, I guess I will just stock up my corals and enjoy them for 3 months . Haven't seen that stupid wrasse, he must have a really good spot. Also yesterday he was eating my puffers clam. Now when I feed him his garlic food he is nowhere to he seen, of course. So also a main sign of ich is flicking on rocks right? As it almost look like a fungus, more info on that once he comes out more.
Also I really DON'T want to get any more fish, as I won't have a QT and I am happy with this stock. If this guy makes it and hopefully no one dies, then I will be EXTREMELY happy and will only be adding more coral. Also can inverts get ich like snails and shrimp?
I don't believe inverts get ich...but don't some inverts like cleaner shrimp eat it or something along those lines? I recall something about like a shrimp or something helping to clean ich off of fish once upon a time but can't remember exactly what it was....I'll poke around and see if I can't find what I'm talking about.... lol
