Marketplace feedback for those who bailed?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Like I know when I want to buy something in craigslist, I will tell them like I will call them to schedule a time to look at the item. Sometimes I do not call because I changed my mind or dont want to buy the item anymore. It is not a bad transaction because no one got cheated.

It is like in a job interview where the employer says that he or she will call you after the interview but he or she never does because you did not get the job.

Give him Neg. feedback. You set up a date & time and didnt show. He wasted your time, now your stuck sitting at home waiting for some jerk! Thats why i try to stay away from pick up. Its no different that winning an auction & not paying, actually worse.:irked:

Craigslist is different thou. This is a community thats deals with one another on a daily basis. Just because you dont get cheated doesnt mean nothing bad happened. If you dont call and they hold the item for you and tell people its already sold then that person misses out on a potential sell.

Just because others do it, as in your job interview example does not make it right. Its about communication and common courtesy.

I dont agree with you. For example, if I wanted to buy a fish and I told the person I will call him tommorow to confirm the time that I will be there. If I dont call, it just means that it is not happening. And your saying that I will get dinged for that. A lot of people are like me who kind of flake like that. It is nothing bad. It is just how buyers are. If you dont hear from them, the seller should just move on.

The seller can also bail on the buyer the same way. The seller would sell it to a different person who has the money first. The buyer just moves on and does not hold any grudges for reveage tactics.

It is just wrong. For example if the seller bailed on the buyer, then the buyer would leave negative feedback on a deal that never happened. Don't make any sense.

It only takes a minute to drop a courtesy e-mail or to make a phone call saying you are no longer interested. To me having to wait around for someone to meet me or a phone call that never arrives is definitely worthy of a negative.

What makes someone think their time is more valuable than mine? Emergencies are an exception of course.

I agree, if you don;t want to call the person mail or text them. I hate it when people call about something i advertise and say they will meet/call me at a certain time and I never hear from them. It's just plain rude.

Confirm is the key word here and where we view things differently. I agree with your statement above that if you call to confirm but dont call but what I am talking about is after you confirm then flake out. You confirm the time, pick up location etc. then flake without a phone call or email. Thats a def. negative.

A flake is a flake and nothing can be done about it. It happens to everyone. I could leave a billion neg. feedback for flakes but I dont b/c that is not the purpose of a feedback system. The purpose of the system is to rate the actual buying and selling and nothing more. You are not there to rate someone on flakiness. I understand its frustrating but that is the world of buying and selling and this is something that the staff will need to discuss. Thats just imo.

FTW :)

If everyone starts leaving feedback for deals that never went down then staff is gonna have alot of feedback to reverse later on. We've already had cases of people leaving feedback for deals that didnt go through, then the potential "flake" buyer leaves a bad feedback for the seller 'cause he's urked that he got bad feedback. Then both parties are pissed and want the negative feedback removed. It turns into a freakin mess.
