ok so the salt killed them.

but what drove 15 tones of them into the brackish water to there death?

is that even answerable?

Once again it’s just an assumption but it mentions typhoons they simply could have been washed down there while migrating the extra water might have pushed them down there with no place to go as the water will naturally run out to the sea. Once again quote”"Channa species they are intolerant of salt and even small amounts can kill them. "What do you think?

Some fish are extremely sensitive to salt. Especially very low PH dwelling fish such as Snakeheads. Stotty makes a good point about them not having scales.

What the hell are you talking about, snakeheads are not scaleless fish. Also, "crawl" may not be the correct term for an action that a fish can perform. This genus is more capable of "crawling", out of the water, than 99.9% of any other fish.

NOOOOOOOOO

I agree stotty, mother nature messing with their migratory conditions is what did them in.

On a side note, my 5 c. gachua have never had any problems in the past when I added salt to their tank. This is not at all comparable to the conditions of this migratory disaster, just my experience in keeping 1 sp. of channa.

Incorrect.

If this is true, Take a video of your SNakeheads crawling on land. I want to see them make 10+ feet.

My old albino striata moved across carpet MUCH faster than I thought he would. I netted him to put him in another tank once, and he went nuts, flew straight out of the net, landed on the carpet and just started zooming around. Not at the speed a snake could, but faster than I imagined possible. Someone on WW also posted a diagram of his channa's escape route, and managing to crawl down some stairs I think.

Although I have never had a channa properly escape at night, only that 1 time in front of me.
