They really do well, if the surface they are moving on is wet. Like wet, low cut grass.

Incorrect.

If this is true, Take a video of your SNakeheads crawling on land. I want to see them make 10+ feet.

Are you for real? The fact that you said snakeheads do not have scales has proven you have zero credibility on this subject. End of discussion.;)

I agree stotty, mother nature messing with their migratory conditions is what did them in.

On a side note, my 5 c. gachua have never had any problems in the past when I added salt to their tank. This is not at all comparable to the conditions of this migratory disaster, just my experience in keeping 1 sp. of channa.

You are a lucky man ;) I found out about it about 7 years ago a friend had a red with cloudy eyes so he whacked a load of salt in a cooked the poor thing. When I did some research I found out they were intolerant to it. A wile back one member on here put some salt in with his snakeheads I can’t remember who it was but it killed his fish. I am 99% certain it is all Snakeheads might be worth a quick message to Snaekheads.org to conferm100%

A minor slip up. As I have not kept fish in about 1-2 years now. infact, I didnt even think about it. I just put trust into stotty's knowledge. Salt does usually have an adverse effect on scaleless fish, so the thought of snakeheads not having them didnt cross my mind. oh well, sue me.

Anyways-

After a quick refresh, I remember it is important to not catagorize Snakehead scales into the norm of other fish such as Cichlids. Channa Do infact have a skin like scale system. Not the common interlocking web.

It is also imperative to remember these scales are quite tough, I remember filleting the snakeheads I had and the skin held up to alot of abuse.

I actually knew about their inablity to tolerate salt. I was just testing my captives limits..........;)
