i always buy all my food off here:

They usually do free shipping too if you spend over $69

I x2 that! Petmountain is awesome! I use to use whatever was cheapest. I would buy the cheap wardley stuff at Walmart and remember still having fairly attractive fish in the end. That doesn't mean they were the healthiest things but they didn't look like they were hurting. Anymore with my CA/SA cichlids and bichir, I try to keep it Hikari across the board. I feed mainly hikari cichlid gold and a bit of massivore each day. I can pick up small bags of cichlid Gold in a pinch down at the local walmart since I live in the middle of no where South Dakota. When I have time though I do order from petmountain as it is cheaper even with shipping then going to petsmart/petco/walmart. Far as using massivore, my big red devil gets 1 pellet each day and loves it! Sometimes it barely hits the water and it disappears. For my 125 gallon community I usually try to break up 2 pellets in the tank and spread it around. My midas, GT, and the salvini love it! I agree between hikari and NLS, it is a bit of preference. They will both do the job well! I would try NLS if was more accessible.

i dont know, i just thought a ziplock plastic shiny bag wouldn't be as expensive as NLS which comes in a plastic container. I should start a fish food company. it probably costs less than a dollar to make that whole bag with the food. thats profit right there.

no one is stopping you from making your own fish food if it's that inexpensive. i know several people who do

i was given a partial bag of massivore with some fish i bought once upon a time.. the fish ignored it, and it fouled my tank, turned the water cloudy and stinky. we did a super gravel vac and replaced 150% of the water over the next 3 days, and changed the filter pads in the canister filter before i felt the tank was safe for fish again.

needless to say, even though i do use some hikari products, i won't use massivore again.

massivore didn't do that to your tank, you had serious other issues going on in there. i've used it for years without one problem, even if the fish didn't eat some of it. but go ahead and blame it one the massivore if it makes you feel better

My fish eat anything. they eat the NLS and if i drop massivore in they'll eat that too. they even eat my plecos algae wafers sometimes. they eat frozen carnivore food too. and i cut the massivore pellets into 4ths and drop them since my clown loaches cant fit a whole one in there mouth. the only fish that gets a whole pellet is my red isletas. my fish just like to eat.

yea, ok. i watched the massivore disintegrate in the tank, and my previously smelling good tank suddenly didn't smell so good. and in just a few hours it turned cloudy and nasty. naw.. couldn't have been the massivore.

i suppose it could have been a bad batch. i know it doesn't smell the best but it normally doesn't cloud up a whole aquarium

Cichlid Bio Gold best food on the market! IMO

You mentioned that you got the "Partial" bag of massivore with a bunch of fish; that sounds to me like a new tank? Perhaps the massivore was a bad batch, or an old batch, but it sounds likely that your tank was cycling.
