Hi everybody, hope your ok?
Now George is settled i thought it was the right time to start a official thread of him, so i can post updates about him and *hopefully* any future spawns with him.
I also will tell you all abit more about him, and his personality, which at the moment would be deemed OVERALLY aggressive. After much research and asking the LFS MANY times, myself and a couple of the "experts" on here suspect he is a RD x Mayan, but only time will tell, it may be clearer when he's older, but also may never be clear!
I also have a potential mate for him that im growing out at the minute, ill also start a thread about her later as she will be something very special when she grows.
Anyway! Its good to be back and see some familiar faces and some new faces!
Enjoy!

He looks like a George. Lol.
Truth is, i never like naming my fish... well i never used too. I was abit of a nightmare before because i always used to swap/replace change get new fish constantly, i never settled, i was constantly trying to get a pair to hybrid with little success, i think the actual buying of fish became more of a hobby then actually keeping them. I reconised how much i was doing it and dropped out of the hobby, but thankfully this time, i have a fish im extremely happy with, so i thought if i named him it would also create a "pet" of him which would also help me stop buying fish lol....

Last week i went to a LFS which was about an hour from home, i got there and they had all sorts of cichlids, i went crazy running around it trying to find a female. There was a tank full of vieja syns and other vieja's, im not going to attempt to spell it. There was one in particuar that has a syns shaped body, but was short bodied and was fading into a orange color, i kicked myself for not getting it.
Anyway, i came home with a hartwegi (clearly a hybrid) and George was ok to begin with , and then lost it, the fish was almost certainly female as was clearly swollen with eggs and tube was out but still George didnt like it...

Absolutely slaughtered it, i had to get it out and take it to another LFS, was one of the cruelest attacks iv ever seen from a fish, very viscous.

BUT

I have a young Super Red Dragon x Vieja bifasciatus so when shes big enough ill put a divider in and hope shes abit more ballsy and stands up for herself (hoping the flowerhorn attitude kicks george into place)

Shes going to be quite a looker from what i see, maybe not as stunning as some FH, but possibly a very nice fish. Just waiting for abit more color before i start sharing pictures of her!

Also he does look like a George lmao

It should be classified as a Flowerhorn then you can guess what it might be. All I know is that it's nice. I have a fader who has a dark deep orange that looks much like that one but started out with that color.

Mine is a Kamfa fader Flowerhorn with water kok gene. Meaning his kok will explode and shrink and stay normal lol

As much as i have to admit they do look extremely alike, i know that no flowerhorns were used as it was the first question i asked. I specifically didnt want a flowerhorn, but they said straight away (oh no, they are defiantly not flowerhorn) They said the breeder used red devil but they couldnt remember the other one, but they said (after many emails asking each member) that they think the breeder said either mayan or a vieja.......
But its quite funny how yours looks so similar to him, i have pictures of all the fish from the batch, George looks different to the others as the others look more mayan funnily enough.
