ya... Her name is Clarice, and she is a ternatensus. She lives in a 10g on my bar. she is so fun to watch, but no fun to try to clean up her tank.
Thats cool, can you post a pic thread of her/him and maybe drop me a pm plz plz plz plz

Did you buy the tank used? I think I would contact the manufacturer and see what they say. The seams where the acrylic is welded should be stronger than the acrylic itself.

Some bowing is perfectly normal. Acrylic absorbs water and warps some. Take a lot of pictures and call the manufacturer. Based on the little info we have and having not seen any photos this was a defective tank.

Wht hit the tank???

Nothing hit the tank... unless my mother was jealous and did it in my sleep, but I highly doubt that. It just... Failed impressively

Sorry to hear about the mess. Hope after the shock wears off you reconsider getting rid of the MFK.

Best Luck,

Bear

Can't get rid of the MFK because it would be me that is the MFK.

ya I thought that the seams should be stronger, i went out there again this morning (I swear I'm going to end up burying this thing in my back yard or make a memorial of some kind) but I was looking at the seams closely and there is parts of it that I am peeling off like plastic wrap. Also found out my slab has warped some, don't know if that is to blame, I think it's a combo of both, but needless to say last night I had lots of dreams about water running everywhere. I miss my tank.

Meanwhile, Ms. Pandora (the Stingray) is just chilling in her cooler looking for food... completely unfazed... Damn I'm going to miss her.

Oh, and no the tank wasn't used, it was brand new, and the manufacturer only has a 90 warranty on their tanks. My insurance company (the incident is covered) is going to do the contacting for me.

I am very sorry to hear about this, I know how much you loved that tank. The ray is saltwater correct? If not, and its fresh and I somehow misread everything pm me and maybe I can house it for you for a while. Good luck with getting things sorted out, I would not accept any excuses from the manufacturer. Anyway, I sincerely hope verything works out.

If you don't get anywhere through your insurance company, I think i'd still give them a call myself, explain the situation, offer to send pics, and see if they will offer any remedy. You might mention that some people on "all the internet forums you regularly post on" thought they might help you (or some creative way to say "I'll tell everyone your tank broke")

Worst case you waste 15 minutes on the phone and are certain you did everything you could. It totally sounds like a defective build to me.

I have to agree with you on the defectiveness, and I think I'll give them a call anyways cause I think I need to "vent." But as I told my husband, even if they give me a new tank I will not use it... I will sell it and use the money to buy one from a different company. I knew i should of gone with my gut when I was purchasing the tank.

So I went ahead and made an album called "the 240 Break" here on MFK. I put pictures of some of the damage, as well as the tank.

sorry to hear it. but i wouldnt get rid of the ray over it. i had a 500 gallon tank in my computer room with a 50 in tv and a custom made computer 3 gaming systems. pretty much a "mans" room. it ruined my 10,000 dollar cpu my 50 inch tv. carpet all my sytems. though someone broke into my house and took my antique gun to it.
