Mega Mess... But what's to blame?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don't think there's anything wrong with naming the manufacturer. You're not slandering them, you're giving a factual account of an event. They did make it, and it did break. Those are facts whether they rectify the situation or not. If someone wants to jump to conclusions and think that all their tanks are garbage based on one incident, that's their problem.

Unfortunately, perception is much more powerful than fact...

Sorry if this has been mentioned before but..i know its winter.. but MOST of us hav our own gas whats with the following banner?FREEGAS.png

Alright, I'll probably start a new thread about this, but thought I'd give it a chance here, When making Acylic tanks what kind of acylic are you supposed to use and why? Also, for larger aquariums what kind of Weld-on should you use?

From what I could see in the pics looks like a indoor ply/glass SW pond would be kinda cool..... Glad to see that you are gonna keep the ray.

Before you replace the tank, you should check to see if the in-wall stand base is flat. If the base warped a bit over time, the tank could have been subjected to incredible twisting force; causing the seams to fail.

you can see in the pictures before we moved the tank that it was level. i checked it more spots than i took pictures of. each place the tank hadn't changed. Shouldn't have since my stand was built using 22 uprights as well as 2x6's and 3/4 plywood. That stand didn't even get fazed by the tank. I'm really paranoid about crap like this happening hence the reason for the overkill.

But even if the stand was to blame, doesn't explain the smooth seams and the warping to the inside.

cell cast only but i have always wondered how do you know if its cell cast.

ya i wonder too... can anyone tell us how to tell if there is a way.

Sorry for your troubles.That sucks.

It looks like they assembled an acrylic tank with silicone? For it to split right on the seam like that looks like it wasnt bonded at all.An accident waiting to happen, whoever made that tank didnt know what they were doing.
