Sounds like you are hen-pecked. Compromise with the wife. Give her a day a month to go out and do her thing.

Nah, the truth is I really like spending time with the family. I have about 1200 gallons of tanks set up, with over 900 gallons of running tanks. My wife is actually a really good sport and puts up with me spending a lot of time and money on my fish, but I think that leaving to drive 130 miles for a fish club meeting might push the boundaries a bit.... :nilly:

Good perspective, Dan :)

I miss the days when "an hour away" meant like 65 miles...and not 12...

What's a fish club? Lol

Nothing like that where I live. I guess you could say we're all members of the fish club MFK...

Not sure where you live but there are clubs with meetings in San Jose, the Bay Area and Monteray, I believe.

Online forums are great but having a group of folks in your area with whom to talk fish, buy/sell/trade fish and supplies, hear speakers, have meetings, holiday parties, BBQs, etc. is even better.

Our club (CCA - www.capitalcichlids.org) is actually Li's club as well!

You said it right! We're already members of MFK and we are satisfied with that. We get all the information and interaction we need here. It is convenient. Some people here are already obnoxious enough, how much more will we be inconvenienced by going into some group and hear them mumble for a few hours with a topic that sometimes does not cover our interest? Clubs are good when you want to know markets, people where you can get your fish but time is of the essence. That, we all don't much have nowadays. Besides, going into meetings and seminars mean we need to spend gas which is ever increasing in prices. There are perks (specially conventions) in being a member. It's just outweighed by time and resources for should I say, most of us.

Seems a little closed-minded and anti-social...but I enjoy hanging out with friends (not inconvenienced by it) and learning about new things, especially from world experts!
