I don't care at all if my post gets edited or deleted, I've moderated tech forums in the past and it can be a pita esecially when you're attached to a larger company's site.

all in all as long as there is no infighting between the mods I'm happy.

You could always start your own forum that incorporates cursing and fishkeeping. Some potential names for you:

Profane Pisces
****ing Fishkeeping.com
Blaspheming Bettas
]v[onsterswearwords.com
Ichthyological Vulgarities

Anybody else agree or disagree that MFK is a bit over doing it w/ PG-13 style? It seems you have the flamers ragging on other peoples stuff. (1) Your not that person get over it & mind your own. (2) Way too much sensorship in cutting post & threads, because somebody else doesn't tune to it woopie doo.

I seen a guy get a thread removed, because in an opinion is distasteful of feeding a live fish. Don't like it don't go into it or watch a video, just so you can opininate on it with smarta** comments or busting chops. Next! And how come i get my post deleted or moderated chopped with nothing bad in them just help & advice. Annoying! :irked:
If we get numerous complaints for a questionable post edging the boundaries of the rules, then we comply to it and resolve such issues before they further spiral downward. There are lots of issues that need to be stopped and this happens most especially in controversial topics where people are so bent out of shape that they begin to take everything personally and project extremely negative comments to others even to the point they begin to insult each other.

There is always a reason why a post has to be moderated. If there is an issue with how it is done, the first thing you must do is PM the moderator involved why it was done. Most complainants prefer to post this in public which is done in poor taste because the discretion of actions between members was not respected. Learn to be patient. Give it a few hours before you are able to get your response.

Some of the "terms of use" are based on a moderators opinion, nothing more. Differences are what makes the world go 'round, not conformity!
Your second paragraph made it sound that anyone can do whatever he wants despite cultural differences. The TOS is there to limit actions that may unnecessarily cause issues therefore destroying the community as a whole. Without the rules, what will happen to the community if they freely do anything whether it affects the community as a whole or not?

In this forum and for every other forum, membership is a privilege, not a right. While it is the members that made the community where it is now, there are actions that need to be controlled to avoid disunity of the community especially as there are barriers based on how you act or speak. What may not be offensive to one group of people, may be offensive to the rest. In this case, we make sure everyone freely expresses themselves without trying to offend each other.

Every situation calls for respect and dignity, even in on-line communities. If you have to resort to harsh talking and profanities, then you're not really getting your point across in the first place. This is a place for friendly and intelligent discussion. No need for harsh language or personal attacks. If you have something to say, say it, but say it with some intelligence, respect and you shouldn't have posts that disappear. There is no need for anything more than PG-13.
I agree. If we are censoring anyone, then you would not be able to express yourself freely at all which ths site is encouraging that you do so but as I said, there is a limit for everything. There is a right time and place for everything. This site has allowed leeway for most words which you should be glad that it does however there are words that are rather distasteful we do not wish such words be used as they can offend a lot of people.

Lastly, it needs to be realized that it is not only the members who are under pressure when an issue arises. The forum staff are involved and are also under pressure because we use our judgment and analysis for every situation that may arise. We are all volunteers taking a portion of our valuable time to dedicate for this site and try to enforce the rules if need be.

Also, your approach on the issue influences the outcome of the situation. If a person speaks rather rudely, then how do you expect the other would react because of the tone you used towards him? Like they say, if you want to be respected, treat others with respect. As much as possible, think before you speak. Step back and think when you say something, how would a person react to the way you speak?

As long as it means the same thing, I see no issues.

"I know! Those (Actual swear word)ing kids are so annoying!

This SHOULD be changed to
"Those Darned kids are so annoying!

NOT:
"Baseball is my favorite sport"

Far be it from anyone to consider that a slight improvement to ones vocabulary may preclude the need for vulgar fillers.

If a person's self-worth and happiness hinges on whether or not a post is edited or deleted, IMO, a reevaluation of said life is strongly in need.

i got a thread deleted about me having my small pox vaccination, getting water proof banaids so i could do physical activities and that i was going out to see the new local life.... idk what was wrong with that, it was the beginning of alot of pictures and a cool giant blister, but it got deleted...

. For me i guess feels like a kids forum when you can't express yourself 100%.

this forum probably has loads of kids using it, kids keep fish too and some go that step further and want to learn as much about them as possible. they shouldnt have to put up with profanity just because a few adults cant think of appropriate words. and yes i know that kids know more than they let on but that doesnt mean it needs to be around them everywhere they go.
keeping that in mind then the forum has to be suitable for kids and adults alike. you did agree to the T.O.S. and no one forced you to sign up if you dont like them.
you can express yourself 100%, you just need a thesaurus to convert swears into civilised words and ensure your writing is relevant.

Welcome to the "New World" where the minority opinion rules and everyone is too PC...

MFK is a great site and I agree it's too PG 13. Seems like the average age on this forum is becoming more teen orientated.

However the only alternative is to start your own forum.
