Sorry, pic was taken with my phone. hopefully it will have darker colour when it gets older.....
He is a beauty.. do you have him with other tank mates.. jars get very aggressive.. but they are so worth it.. love how they look...

He is in by himself right now, I have lots of african cichlid and one baby front,,,when i bought it from the store,,they said they had a silver about 1/2 his size maybe a little bigger but he killed it,,,i'm choosing his tank mate very carefully,,,,,he doesn't seem to be scare or easily spook,,,i'm looking to find other jardini as tank mate or even silve his size but it is hard-press given the fact that the economy is bad and they don't seem to order many high price items

i think {from what i have read} and from MFK posters that have owned jars..they are not suitable tank mates with almost everything...occasionally i hear it works.. but then all of a sudden the jar will strike and kill .. so i doubt a silver would even be safe..but we will read up more and see how others are making out.. i have alot of fish that i thought would not be right together and they live in harmony... the jar has a wicked reputation.. but i know that is what makes them a jardini... i almost bought one a while back.. but i do not have a spare tank...keep me posted on him...

yes that would be nice to also get a black... even one more silver.. :D:Dthey are very nice... keep the top coverered and also little spaces taped ..they will jump out of the smallest opening.. and later weight down the top..they are jumpers... and so many are lost because of it.. i learned the hard way...i lost one of my 36 inch silvers many years ago when he sailed out of the tank through the top and i found him on the floor..now this guy i have a board on top..
at present the top is covered. its made of 10mm thick glass so its heavy for them at the moment, may be i will add more weight when they grow up a little more.but they havent jumped at all in these 3 weeks. that might be so painful to lose a fish that big. so sorry to hear that

I just have a question, the aros in prophets pic at he beginning of this post, are they jardini or asian, and are they green? I just bought one and I'm not sure what it is. It looks green but not very green.

thanks
i bought a 4 inch jardini and kept him with my silver aro.he beat the sh** out of my silver aro in just 2 days. the silver aro lost it tail and most of the fins were gone. i returned it after that. now my silver is with another silver and they are doing great. so if u have a jardini then be ready to have a tank with a single fish except for a few exceptional cases

very good advice... they are what they are... and adding tank mates is a big chance to take.. from what i read the tank mates lose sooner or later...
