i guess ive never seen a big chinese algae eater haha, just looked diffrent to me. very nice!

i am fairly positive that it was a CAE from other pics ive seen of them and it certainly had a CAE's aggression. i never had a 100% positive ID on it though. either way its aggression got it into trouble.

where did you get that tank from the bottom bit and curved sides look just like mine and any chance of a whole tank shot
cheers

thank you for the nice words.
this is as close as i have to a full tank shot, taken this month. im not very good at aquascaping so i prefer not to do full tank shots. its a little different now as i moved some wood to make a haven for the cons that the midas cant get to should she get in a mood. im moving in august so hopefully the new house will be large enough for me to upgrade to a larger tank again so this will all be a temp home.

really nice fish!! i like the cons colors! mine has the same color!

cheers, it has crossed my mind. im unsure of her genetics as i picked her up in the lfs and they do have quality fish. i may have got lucky and she may be a pure midas, then again she may not be. i dont want to breed midas unless i can be sure they are pure as there is enough of a problem with hobbiests getting hold of pure midas as it is without me adding to it. its not that i dislike midas/devil mixes but i also dont want to add to it either.
maybe i will order pure midas from rapps if i have the space in the new house for a 2nd tank but for now she will remain single.

Good plan! Midas breed so easily anyways there would not be a point of breeding yours if you are unsure of it's genetics. I have a few good shot of my f1 barred midas in this thread http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=253169 if you want to see some f1's to compare yours to. Yours looks to be pure to me but you never know.
