First off he's a RD/MIDAS cross and because of that mixture genetics will play a large role in his overall size. It is possible that he is done growing. Try increasing the size or amount of waterchanges you do.
ken davis has pure midas cichlids so your wrong i would not speak on something your not sure about i've gotten midas from ken davis lots of times and i know the breeder he gets his midas from.

If you believe that fish is 100% midas then you should be questioning your own research and knowledge of fish. Thats not a pure midas sorry. Face is way to short and snout/mouth protrudes too much outward. Pure midas at that size have much flatter and taller face's.

Okay guys, settle down :-) I'm not a moderator by any means, but I think a nicer tone of conversation might be appreciated, especially for a forum newbie.

Anyways, back to the topic... I don't care whether he's a mutt or not. But I do know Ken was going to use him as a breeder before he sold him to me.

what kind of fish is that in your avatar? red texas? try buying super worms and feed the worms greens and vits then after they process everything, they are easier to convert the vits into usable protein. along w/ switching up his diet mabe

these fish are known to grow very quickly during there first year and then slow down for the next couple until they are full grown. i wouldn't worry too much about it if the fish is eating well and acting "normal"

Yeah that's my SRT :)

Okay what do you mean by "super worms" lol? I've been wondering about the protein content in certain live foods, not fish but others like crickets and earthworms. Is it worth it to get some as a treat?

I am definitely on the hunt for some higher-protein pellets. What percentage is recommended? The highest in my Hikari pellets is 45%.
