I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion, but perhaps if we are the "greater species" then do we act responsibly when we directly impact the habitat of these animals in a devastating manner? Do we not owe it to them to keep them safe and provide places like this to sustain a species? Humans have bred and evolved at a rate impossible to accomodate the necessary genetic changes for biodiversity, Evolutionary Biography and speciation.

This world works when everything is in harmony, it's already too late, the scales have been tipped, global warming is destroying the beautiful balance with nature, as is overpopulation, when does it stop?

This picture has in one morning has triggered so many responses to my emails, more than I've ever recieved. It's because it's so rare to see such an incredible animal. I just stare at the pics of her, she is so magnificent, a ferocious survivalist, every part of her body is perfect. 100 years from now they won't be here. They will only live in memories and legends. I feel like I was given an honor last night and I will protect her, defend her and respect her.

The picture doesn't capture the take your breath away response to really see one in the wild (or trying to come in the front door!)Look at the fear and desparation in her face, humans caused that. She totally had me one night, I had taken away her still alive kill and was trying to wrap it in my coat and save it,not realizing she had circled back and climbed the tree I was under until the tree started growling at me. heh heh I love my growling tree. She was pretty mad at me, I'm pretty glad she didn't pounce! She outweighs me
and I never would have had a chance.

Peace out-Mei;)
:confused:I am confused as to who and when the pic was taken.Reason being is that the pic you posted was taken early on the morning of March 31, 2005.as stated half way down the page of the link I posted. It also has the exact same pic shown aswell.

Extract from Couger Quest,
Mountain Lion (Cougar) Sightings with Photos forwarded by Wayne W. (original by Millie McC.)
A rural resident took photos from inside her house early on the morning of March 31, 2005. "Now will the Pennsylvania Game Commission finally admit that the Pennsylvania Mountain Lion, or otherwise known as a cougar, is no longer extinct in the state?" [CQ-VA Editorial Note: The 3 photos definitely show a cougar on the porch and looking in the glass door!!! 03/01/2007 UPDATE: The same three photos were recently reported as being taken in Michigan. When contradicted by MWC, claim was made that these photos were originally taken in Wyoming by a Missouri biologist (??? really ???). Obviously, the cat and the house were somewhere / somewhen - maybe in PA? This is a good example of why scientifically re-confirmable proof is required for recognition of a cougar's presence in any area, especially in eastern states! 02/01/2008 UPDATE: The same three photos were recently reported as being taken in Giles County, Virginia. According to www.cougarnet.org, Dr. Dave Rogers took these photos in Lander, Wyoming in a riparian corridor that he calls home. Thanks to VDGIF Rick Reynolds for providing this update & web reference.]]

This pic was taken the morning I posted it, my bf and I sat up half the night waiting, cause we knew she was out there. I am utterly baffled seeing those other pics:confused::confused: I am going to aky my techy bf about this when he gets home. Thanks for the info. WTF??? I emailed it all over the place, but I don't believe he would BS me like that. I did notice after loaded it on the comp. it said img 004, now I'm wondering if he really took it. So b4 I get all upset, you Sure about this? I mean that would really tick me off if I've been duped. I could believe it if he pranked me initially, but to let it go on and know I had this cool thread going....that's just too mean. I have about 500 pics on my camera, but now I'm going to go through every one to get to the bottom of this. It was even snowing just like in the pic, the tracks were in the snow, I've even plaster casted her tracks. The deck even looks exactly like ours. I'm really upset by learning this. I'll be back! You really sure? How?

Wow. You're right. I couldn't wait all day, so I made a couple of calls. My landlord and my bf pranked me with the pic. They know I've been dying to catch it on camera. So I really believed it. They pasted and copied and wtf ever made me believe my bf took it when we were watching and nightscoping for the Cougar that night she stole the deer meat.

I got so excited that I posted a thread (this thread)my bf said he "didn't have the heart" to tell me the it was a prank after I got so excited and emailed it and posted it and shared with the whole world. So I feel really stupid and embarassed about this. The pic was found online, my landlord searched for quite a bit in order to find one that would look like it was "real". I am so disappointed. Well, I'll just keep on until I get MY cougar pic.
I'm never going to trust anyone again. I shouldn't take credit for my bf's pics I guess lesson learned.

I still enjoyed the conversations and responses from everyone, it's fun to share this experience with you all (the cougar , not the joke gone too far)
So it's still fun to track her and see what she does, so I'm going to try harder than ever to get her pic. I have a "nightime wildlife vid cam" on the way from Cabela's, that will rock.

So I can take a joke, but this leaves me feeling stupid and embarassed, quite bummed actually. My reputation (esp. here at MFK) is very important to me. But, I am sorry about all of this pic cra*, but it's still been fun to share the cool happenings with you guys. The stories are all true at least. I'm so ticked.

peace out-a really bummed out Mei:irked::nutkick::nutkick::nutkick::angryfire:wall::shocked:the smilies reflect my present emotional state

Now I'm gonna go crawl in a hole

So Greenterra,I do appreciate you bringing this to my attention, could you share a little more with me regarding how exactly to verify the authenticity of a simple pic?

I'd never even questioned it, we were firing off crappy pics all night, then he said he got a good one. How does one research this so it never happens to me again? I am appreciative to be informed of the truth, regardless of how extremely disappointing it was. I just don't ever want something like this to happen again, so I would appreciate some tips.

I really don't question things or (until now) have never had a general mistrust of people, so from the mind of someone who does consider these things, please educate me how how to be more cautious when my reputation is at stake? Sincerely, Mei

I've really met some incredible people here on MFK, and have enjoyed all of you. It just became a neat site with people who really had brain and cared about animals, and I learned tons about my fishkeeping. You all have been so great. This just hit me hard, they guys still think this is hysterical. I can't get the point across that it's not cool to let the joke go on as long as it did. They don't even get why I'm so upset. I told them they made me look really gullible and stupid in front of the most important site in my cyber life, and now my repuatation has been ruined. So, it's been nice.
bye-mei

Yup, they will probably laugh about it for a while. But for the prank, don't feel bad about it. We've all had pranks on us, and some even worse. So I wouldn't get too upset about it. Just keep a smile on, and don't let it bother you. And hit your BF for me too, lol. ;)

Not a big deal .. it was fun while it lasted!!

Meiling. The only reason I chased up the info on this pic is because I had already seen it several yrs ago .I have a pretty good memory when it comes to things I have seen with my own eyes.As for your partner, I would be giving him a good stern kick in the third leg area for allowing you to compromise your reputation,be it in the cy-ber world with forums or to any friends and acquaintances you have sent an email. If I pulled a joke like this, my better half would shoot me (and not with a camera) as would I her if the situation was reversed. As for verifying the authenticity of a simple pic. It's simple.Only use pics you shot yourself. As for knowing if the photo was taken with your camera by your partner, Right click,go properties, select summary, click advanced and all the info will be there from camera used to shutter speed etc.Hope that helps some.;)

Hey Mei don't worry about it !!! Your rep here on MFK is nowhere near ruined by this thread or your BF's prank... It was fun while it lasted, now you just got to figure out a good revenge for your BF and the landlord !!!!
