It's difficult I know, I had to grow older and move out before my fish keeping obsession started. My folks were dead against a tank, end of argument. Even though they had a large pond and I helped to dig it.

Its kinda moot but the mosquitos would not be a problem because they either would chose not to breed in the moving waters of an aquarium with filters and if they did,the laravae would be eaten by the fish,probably the eggs too.
 
You said that she grew up with fish and that she thought they smelled bad.
If it has been a long time since she kept fish try to explain that the technology for filters has improved dramatically, along with people to lend advice if you have a problem.
Be a gentleman and talk to her as the young man that you are .
 
meh, i just don't want the fish to get anything from the 'squitos. And I think there was a misunderstanding, I'm female xD Either way i finally say her down and she agreed, saying maybe when we get the floors redone.
 
Move it where they would park their car, fill it up, take a filter from another tank and go get some cold water fish since it can't go in the house :)
 
How old are you? If you are 16+ yrs old just move out and get your own place and do what you want. My parents were totally cool with any thing i did when i was young but i still had more respect than to load there house full of stuff. When i was into nitro rc cars real bad i bought a shed and assembled it out back to keep all my stuff in. I learned if you never ask for a dollar and don't load stuff in the house and just aim all your efforts and money towards getting your own place to live life is easy. If you want all the material items an adult would have then be an adult and put them in your own place.
 
Any plans when you're family is getting the floor redone?

At the end of the day it sucks you can't get setup right away.. the garage idea isn't a bad one. But, until you have a house you live in alone its hard to just decide to do these things. I have to check with the bf, and he said ONE tank... just one.

So... we all have our battles.
 
Tell her (ESP if your the only child) that you will remeber this and when she's old and rickity you will not even hesitate to throw her in an old folks home where they beat you and won't even clean your adult diaper.
