it's not a good idea to buy a baby arowana that small. the smaller they are, the more deleicate they are. i agree with the above poster. perhaps your baby arowana died and then was eaten by a ray. i've read several publishings that question buying young arowanas of 3 or 4 inches. i bought mine at 7 inches. he was healthy and out of that danger stage. he's now going on 11 inches.
The Black I received today is about 6-7". I really do not think the rays ate him after looking at them today. They're both extremely skinny with their pelvic bones showing.
Geez, are your rays eating? If not, try live black worms. My rays love them and should help to put on some weight on your rays. I'd be more concerned with getting the rays to put on weight than buying another aro. What is your tank temp at? MY rays and aro liked it at about 82F. And if your aro died in the tank, I'd do a major water change before you get an ammonia spike. I'm not trying to criticize, I'm just putting in my 2 Canadian cents worth to be helpful.
I actually just located a source for live black worms. I'll picking a lb or so up tomorrow. The tank is at 78 degrees. Maybe I should bring it up to 82. I don't know if the aro died in the tank. I'm going to do a water change tomorrow either way.

I found the silver ray. He was in the top drawer of the sump. He must have been stuck in the overflow and finally came out. Poor thing!
I turned the temp up, it was at 79 it's now at 82. I did a water change yesterday right before I put the rays in. I'm going to do another one tomorrow. I normally do a 25% once a week but was going to set it up to twice a week now that there is 2 rays and an aro. My rena xp3 should be here tomorrow, that should help. I think I have more then enough filtration with the way things are setup now, but I got a good deal on the xp3 and figured it could never hurt to add it.
coool.. nice filtaration haha.. that suck!! so he did get sucked up =( and finally came out... good thing, now u dont have to worry about lookin for it haha
