I think the following are clinchers in this deal:

1. Fedor is part owner of M-1 as mentioned above.
2. There is more money in co-sponsorship because the co-sponsor gets more money not just from ppv buys but as well as ticket sales. There is no way UFC will let a fighter dictate how they do their business and who the profits go to.

UFC built the American MMA market and there is no fighter, no matter how big of a name he is, will dictate how UFC shares its money. Only UFC does that.

Like koop, I'm tired of all this bullcrap. If you ask me, Fedor is the chump in this situation.

Fedor a chump? That's a good one. He doesn't need the UFC. It's my feeling that Lesnar will eventually seek out Fedor because of his huge competitive nature and his ego. I do agree that there should be a way they can get Fedor, but I think it's funny how confident that Dana was that they would get him this time and they couldn't. If you can't tell, I have a little chip on my shoulder about Dana and the new UFC. Dana reminds me of Vince McMahon.

It's this kind of s*** that really pisses me off..."Fedor is a f---ing joke," UFC President Dana White responded Monday after learning that Emelianenko had signed with Strikeforce. “He turns down a huge deal and the opportunity to face the best in the world to fight nobodies for no money!" are you kidding me...that's how he responds, how immature? Dana's an a-ho**

Most of the people that followed Fedor is pass their prime, former UFC champs. The word former is key...

UFC made concessions but then money talks. A fighter does not make an MMA organization.

I don't get what you're saying.

and people who think Fedor is past his prime, maybe they don't realize that Anderson Silva is actually older than Fedor and I don't think he's past his prime

and people who think Fedor is past his prime,

It means the fighters that he has recently fought are "formers" and past their prime such as Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovsky. Its that or his opponent's skills set or strength is not-comparable to his.

I don't think age has anything to do with an athlete's prime unless he's in his 60s or so.

Seriously, Alistair Overeem and Fabricio Verdum??? Its like a Manny Pacquiao choosing to fight Julio Caesar Chavez Jr. flame on!!! :grinno:

I think you forgot to mention Bret Rodgers in there :D you're right, those two are not the kind of fighers that have the best chance of beating Fedor, but they still are very good fighters.

look, I agree that most of the best fighters, at least at HW, are in the UFC, but that doesn't mean that it has all the best fighters and other promotions have squat. Dana is a prick and that is why he's having a hard time getting a deal with Fedor, or at least that's my honest opinion. Fedor is a very very quiet, humble and down-to-earth guy and doesn't give a damn about the hype of the UFC or its fighters. If he thought that he HAD to be in the UFC to be the best, then he would dump his lame-ass manager.

I want to know exactly how the deal differed that UFC vs. Strikeforce were trying to make. I've read quite a few things and nothing is explained very well.

I cant remember where I read it but M1 has 3 more fights of Fedor's it is interesting how he only has 3 fights with strikeforce. What sucks is although he owns a piece of M1 if the other owners dont want you to fight in a organization what can you do, Randy Couture went through the same thing.
