i was not surprized by overeem's performance. i was more surprized by werdum's cardio. i always felt that overeem has not been truly tested at heavyweight. to this date, his best wins at heavyweight was buentello and dufee, which doesn't say much at all. now he's got a win over werdum, which looks better on paper, but the fight itself didn't live up to hype to the general media
i, for the record, was very entertained by it. i read A LOT of bad criticism that fight got, but i found the fight entertaining. i get what people are saying too, but at the same time, i hate how one fighter is only as good as their last fight. people forget that the reem has stopped his last 6 opponents in the first round. give the guy a break.
reminds me of anderson silva haters. he's got like 2 poor fights and it's like people erased all his other great wins from their memories

He hung in there...I was really surprised that he got beat up that way also. JDS is a monster !!!
I just saw the Overeem-Werdum fight and was also entertained by it.....well, most of it.Reem seemed to have a good battle plan in shutting down Werdums ground game but Werdum was the faster striker once they were vertical.That extra forty pounds seemed to help tire out Reem in the last round.

i scored it 29-28 for the reem, i wouldn't even argue a 30-27 for overeem

He didn't seem to do much in round three but I'd be okay with 29-28 Reem.He did call out Werdum leading up to the match and some can say that he should have done more but he was beaten by Werdum before so I can understand him being somewhat cautious and not wanting to get caught.I think JDS or Cain would beat him as well.
yea, he had the right game plan. of course it'd be stupid for him to play into werdum's game. i think people criticized him a bit too much on his striking but you gotta understand, his main focus was to stuff takedowns and keep it standing, so he was able to get away with letting his guard down on the stand up portion and knowing that werdum isn't exactly mike tyson with his hands. so of course he's going to overly anticipate a takedown (which even someone who went full tard can see that's what werdum was trying to do) and that affects his striking offense as well as defense
either way, who do you guys think will take this tourny now? and who takes the next rounds?
I think overeem will have to stop bigfoot early, rd 2 at the latest. longer the fight goes, better for bigfoot. my prediction, bigfoot will tko overeem in the 2nd or 3rd
kharitonov vs barnett will be a great fight. i'm still unsure of how good barnett is at this point in his career. the last time he fought anyone who wasn't a can was in 06 against big nog which he lost. but at the same time, kharitonov has only fought 4 times in 4 years up to this point so not sure where he's at either in his game. on paper, i'd say barnett is the underdog and i'd give him the slight edge but this fight can go either way. the key for kharitonov getting a win is defend takedowns and use his boxing. his striking is more technical imo although so is josh but i give kharitonov the slight advantage there.

I'm going to stick with Reem-Barnett for the last match. Khartonov is good but as you pointed out 4 fights in 4 years? As far as big foot I think Reem will be win. He was way to careful with Werdum but who can blame him. He still didn't look like his normal self during that fight.
