Very true but it has been 3 and out for awhile. That was a great fight. I can't think of anything coming up that I want to see. Rampage is gonna get killed.

ok, here's something more official about the signing of overeem to the UFC, "not even close, but working on it" -Dana

Dana White continues to prove that he follows any and all MMA stories and forums, as the outspoken UFC President posted on The Underground forum, recently.

When conversation started concerning the signing of Alistair Overeem to a UFC contract, White was quick to disregard those talks.
"We are not even close to a deal with Alistair but we are working on it," White wrote.
Overeem was part of the Golden Glory quartet of fighters that were released due to problems with business dealings between the two sides. Overeem's manager, Bas Boon, has come out and stated that he hopes to sign his star to an exclusive deal with Zuffa in the near future.

Really nice site that I've never heard of......thanks for sharing.

and about golden glory, from what Dana has said, they don't do business the way golden glory does. golden glory is not only a fight camp, they are a promotion. they get paid, then they pay the fighters. Dana says, according to the athletic commissions here, they can't do that, they pay the fighters directly. I didn't look further into it, but if that's the case, i understand why the UFC did that. I haven't looked into it since then so I dont' know what else has been said and done. one good thing is that in a recent interview, Overeem still shows interest in fighting in the UFC
did you see the check Coenen showed that the money from her fight went directly to her and not to GG first?

yea sucks about thompkins

and yes i did see that picture of coenen's check. there's a lot about the whole thing i read about quickly but didn't look too deep into it. a lot of things dana says, i take with a grain of salt anyways. he's contradicted himself numerous times so that's why i didn't put too much energy into that whole golden glory thing. just bring overeem over to the ufc, that's all i care about at this point. but i do feel bad for marloes though

UFC has inked deal with Fox
this is good, the deal with Spike expires at end of 2011. All the free shows and TUF will be on FX in 2012. i dont' have G4 in my area on my provider so i'm glad that didn't go thru

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has reportedly signed a multi-year contract with the Fox Broadcasting Company, taking effect in January 2012.

According to a report from the Sports Business Journal, the promotion has inked a deal with the network for seven or eight years, giving Fox the rights to broadcast as many as four live MMA events per year.

Most of the UFC's weekly programming, which currently airs on Spike and Versus, will reportedly now be broadcast on the Fox-owned FX channel. This includes events such as “Ultimate Fight Night,” as well the UFC's long running reality show, “The Ultimate Fighter.” According to the SBJ's sources, Fox could pay the UFC up to $90 million, and a deal announcement could come as early as this week.

Fox subsidiary Fuel TV will also benefit from some UFC programming. However, the SBJ writes that Fox will not re-brand Fuel TV to give the UFC its own channel.

The UFC was rumored to be in talks to purchase struggling cable network G4 with plans to transform it into an independent UFC network. However, those plans seem to have been scrapped in favor of the aforementioned arrangement with Fox. The promotion's long-standing contract with Spike TV will reportedly expire at the end of 2011.

I've read that the folks who run Spike are looking to change their programming in order to attract more female viewers so I'm not shocked to see this.

^ what the? that's lame of them

i loved spike for being geared towards the male audience. and to me, the UFC put them on the map, so i don't know why they'd not wanna keep the deal. but it may be more of the UFC wanting to go to a bigger network
