The tank was set up through Tanks Direct, and built in Clearwater Florida. If you decided to go that route PM me for more details...

Thanks Mod's

Its looking awesome doviiman! Which background did you go with from Design's by Nature? I see you had to use a couple of them and piece them together, do the seams seem obvious once in the tank and with water? Or does it blend in good? I've been trying to find a long background for the 8' x 28" tank I plan on building but its hard them. Also what kind of Caribsea sand did you go with?

I actually had to go with four pieces of Design by Natures 72''x22'' called Bulu gray, not cheap at all but Matt gave ma a great deal on th efour pieces. I chose this particular 3D BG becasue its only 3'' at its wides point and I didn't want the ones that were like 10'' at it's wides point to much tank space from the monsters, plus I wanted the darker BG to accent the white carrbe sand. I forget the actually name, but I can find out for you, but from what I was able to find it's the whites sand they make, and its pretty heavy.
As for the seams, it came out much better than I could imagine having to use four seperate panels. I staggered them top and bottom and offset the cuts. They say the trick to cover the seams is to use a sealant over the seams/cracks, then add painted sand that 's the color of your back ground to the sealant. But in my case, thank God, DOW makes a spray foam product called "good stuff" for ponds and waterfall, that's water proof and safe for aquarium use, and to top it off is was near the color of the back ground I chose. :headbang2
so all I had to do is mask of the BG where only the seams where showing (which might I add was not that bad anyway) then sprayed the foam in and on the cracks, let dry for 12 hours and did a little trimming here and there, and it looks great. the biggest concern was the vertical cracks, because in person the horizontal cracks kind of flows with the them of the rock and in person really looks somewhat like cliff's. I am truyl happy with the outcome and would recommend it. Besdies unless you plan on making your own, I am not sure how you are going to get one at 8ft long. I think the longest is 72'' long and 22'' tall. Unless you can find one that's taller to fit you 28'' tall first, but you may still need four for the project. Another plus for me was the opening of my tank was large enough to put the whole 72'' x 22'' BG with out further cutting. So times if you opening is not large enough, you may have to cut the BG down even further making even more pieces to seam back together.
If you have any other question don't hesitatre to ask.. i'll help all I can.

I have the water filter system set up. Fliter guys created this set up that allows you to run there canister to your main water source into the canister but on the return side has a specific gallonage flow inline with the tubing. Really simple and neat. The system is designed to change 350 gallons of water in 7 days when I used it as an auto drip system.
Plus my air pump by jehmco arrived with weighted airstones.
All I need is one more NuClear canister, that's suppose to arrive sometime this week, and I can start the plumbing and get my cycle on...

Your background looks great! You're making great progress setting things up!

You are doing all the things that I hope to some day do on my tank (heating, UV sterilizing, air stones, autowaterchanger) so that's why I have so many questions. Brace yourself, here they come:

Are you having to dose any water conditioner, or do those RO looking filters remove all the chlorine/chloramines?

Does the auto water changer drip into the sump? Where does the displaced/excess water spill out to?

Definitely curious to see which is quieter...your Dart or the air pump. Specifically interested in that air pump since I'm in the market for one. Are you going to run all three air stones? If possible, I would love to see a video of them to see how much air they push.

Lookin awesome Fred! Keep those updates and pix coming.
