Awesome looking tank, congrats!

I agree that fake plants can look good when done right. I am looking at getting some more fake plants for my tank, but planting them can be hard when it is already established.

Plus with your tank, I dont think the fake plants will get much attention once the stock is in!!!

dude your tank looked awsome the way it was
Thanks, but I was not totally happy with it, I felt like it didn't blend as much as I wanted it to. I will try a few other ideas and see how I like it..

sweet set up bro!
Thanks
nice tank looks great.

Yes, I am sure there is some plants out there that can give me the natural look I am searching for..

the tank is amazing, everything is top notch and you really thought things out in great detail, that background blows me away.

regarding your aquascaping, you can go to a landscaping place and get really nice big rocks. for driftwood, manzman has some huge pieces that he can find for you. here are what i put in my tank which is a little smaller than yours. regarding fake plants, i was also in the same boat thinking it's not for me, tacky etc but i added one to create more zones for my cichlids and everyone that has seen it, likes it. its all a matter of taste.

alot of of big river rock and 700 lbs of substrate all for $150

big driftwood even compared to the tank

We use to have a place that carried things like that, but no longer. I have tried a few landscaping places but it just not doing it for me, and there rocks seems to be way to large for me to not only lift, but get in the aquarium. My search continues.
That is a nice piece of drift wood you have. I have a few new pieces soaking now and some smaller rocks to add, we will see how that turns out.

I really like the tabs on your stand. It's going to make skinning in your stand a breeze. Wish we had thought of tabs when we built our stand--it would have made walling the tank/stand in a lot easier.
I have to admtt, I had no part in the stand and its original construction with tabs, it was given to me by an old friend. The tabs were already there, but yes it going to make it much easier to attach doors when it comes to trying to make this tank look in wall, I repeat "TRYING" to make it look in wall somewhat . If all else fails, I'll have to hire a woodsman to make cabinets around the stand and tank...
