monster community suggestion???

people have had black sharks flip out and slaughter tankmates, i wouldn't recommend them as community fish

a "shoal" of big pacus in a huge tank would be something to see. Clown knife for the mystery effect, and the tinfoil barbs...so nerve racking. That seems to be a nice choice.
I would add a nice big green terror on there, about 6-10 inches, the orange fins are just majestic, and the neon blue/green...adds color. And maybe the hybrid catfish, RTCxTSN.

Even in a tank that size I would not go with a pacu.
I would also avoid RTCs, and channel cats for a comminity tank

I was thinking about this 600-900g tank that you want to stock with large peaceful fish,
her is what I came up with in addition to your tinfoils and three large silver dollars to replace the pacu,
1 black ghost knife (Apteronotus albifrons) to 20"
1african feather fin (Papyrocanus afer) to 24"
1 ropefish (Erpettoichthys calabaricus) to 30"
3 suckerbarbs (Barbichthys laevis) to 12"
1 flagtail (Semaprochilodus theraponura) to 15"
1 striped headstander (Leporinus striatus) to 16:
and 1 royal panaque (panaque nigrilineatus) to 15"
I think it would make a nice and fairly unique tank.

Nothing like bringing back a thread that is 2 and 1/2 months old......... but since you have, I'll give you an update on what I decided to do. The tank I ordered is ~750g with dimensions of 10' x 4' x 2.5' and should be here within 2-3 weeks. I appreciate all comments and suggestions but it became crystal clear that my tastes are not the "norm" for MFK if there is such a thing. The inhabitants will be as follows;
1 red belly pacu
1 giraffe catfish
1 redtail giant gourami
1 clown knife (he readily eats flake and pellet)
5 tinfoil barbs
3 clown loachs
These fish are currently in my 125g awaiting the 750g. The tank has size, action, beauty, and personality but without the aggression problems that I've had in the past. In the end I just had to be me

I think your tank will look great and be just as you describe, full of action and personality. I would still replace the pacu with a couple flagtails or silver dollars but that is just because I have never cared for pacus
