Monster Dat!!

He also keeps my armatus in line as the only fish that stands up to the armatus.Moody though, sometimes he just wants to chase all of the fish around, other times he'll just ignore them...SA ST is the only pellet holdout. It only accepts FD krill and stuffed shrimp. He'll take the shrimp from my fingers too.I've been toying with the idea of keeping him in a separate tank and letting him eat feeders exclusively as an experiment of sorts to compare his growth with the others.

Yes he was a moody fish... Split fins all the time and I just couldn't take him doing it to so many fish. If you do live for the SA guy are you going to gut load the feeders?

That you need to think about is how many actually make it to adult hood

Look how many ST was around 8 years ago and look how many of them are still about now

If you look how many IT are being sold now in 8 years time I wonder how many 20" ones will be about

The starving to get onto pellets is no time at all my ST was only feeding on prawns for about 3 years of the time I owned it then it started eating pellets on its own

Most tigers are under fed I think and I stated this years ago
Most tigers can eat soooo much but when they are kept in big groups only the alpha will probably get if full feed

The growth rate between 4-12" is fairly fast and can be reached in under 2 years if fed correctly

Interesting points but we really don't know how many captive ST there are...some suppliers such as Stones seem to always have big adults for sale.
Funwow yes I probably would gut load the feeders if I go that route.

That's a nice size dat. The image is at a view that makes it seem larger. Size probably close to 2' +\-

Both my 15-15.5" indos took about 3-3.5 years to grow to that from 9" size. With fz tilapia as a staple.

Well said! So many dats have had no chance of reaching their size capabilities because of shyness during feeding times. Just because there might not be constant fighting doesn't mean one doesn't have an eating edge on others in a confined space. And just because others are eating some, doesn't mean they're even coming close to the amount these fish can put in their stomachs
