lets not fight over this anymore. this is not the time nor the place for this type of debate.

So where should we debate if not on forums???

I don't know about anyone else out there, but I much rather prefer looking at my "dominated and manipulated" Florida Gar who is plump, active and intensly colored than one who is mamed by a crayfish. Why not give them the most optimal water conditions and everything you can in a tank environment? Feeding a prepared diet with the occasional feeder fish is the way I go, and it's working fine for all of my monsters.

What?? Your whole concept is unneeded and un-warranted Domination...Do not try to pass the crap to others making them sound like the ones Dominating and manipulating.. You are the one with the Blood lust needlessly subjecting a fish to harm and unnecessary risk because you think Making things "natural" (Even though that is impossible) is right...You seriously have an anthropomorphism issue and you do not know crap about gar behavior.. I feed my fish BTW live foods and not just Prepared. What I do not think though is this is somehow making them think they are in the wild by doing so.. And I would discount their hunting behavior right away as atypical in a tank, as captivity is not equal to wild situations. These fish do not act in captivity as they do in the wild. If you think they do you are deluded and out of touch.

I do work on these fish both in tanks and in the wild.. I do not talk out of my butt when I say what I do. I do have experience with these fish, both in captivity and in the wild. Happy if you think you know something but I'll happily disagree when I see crap...

i guess all i can ask for is for you all to accept that there is more than one way to keep predatory fish, and in return i will do the same!

I'm fine with that as there are different ways to keep these fish.. When there is some actual reason to do so I'm very willing to concede to it. Under this case you are giving zero actual reason to do so. You are actually just giving out poor, misinformed information that is detrimental to lepisosteid care. I'm not OK with this...In this case I'm going to confront you and not let up on it...

you do cook yr meat before eating it right...? im hoping you dont eat it raw cause you feel that's how nature intended meat to taste like..

rednhot, please check your facts and to a little more research (i.e. do SOME research) before ranting on like you've done in the above posts. you're just embarrassing yourself. we are all here to learn, and none of us knows everything, but you should trust that some of the people here do have more extensive experience with certain fishes than you do. if your advice is inaccurate or just plain bad, you'll be called out on it...and that is for the benefit of everyone reading--

I go to a zoo 5 times a week for 60 hours+ and work with animals that would make you pee your pants to have to come in contact with so I Still have to ask you... WTF????
BTW...We feed tigers chopped Horse meat and canned food... They like it....
