look i started out giving advices just like you all were. i was not contradicted i was attacked visciously...with big words that scared me.
if you guys are done flaming me. which is not OK in these forums. i'd like to ask some advice, for the benifit of my gars of course. is anyone interested in answering me or will i just be attacked again???
well apperantly a chain link or concrete enclosure is good enuff just ask Polypterus.

hey Xander, same thing happens to a broken horse when you pull on the reigns. its called a conditioned response, kinda like the way you were brain washed by society. think out side the box dude, don't be small minded!just tried something, i threw in about 10 feeders and 3 pcs of prawns, and yet somehow the gars went for the prawns instead

ps-- i think it's been readily established that aquaria are not a natural setting, there are ways of adding some natural aspects to aquaria, but that's about the best we can do. i'd suggest dropping that debate as it's going nowhere and not helpful at all--
rednhot...do you have any other pets? Dogs? what do you feed them? I would certainly hope you're not taking them out of their element and feeding them dog food. They are, afterall, decendants of wolves, who eat raw game and scavange...so you scrape roadkill fo ryour dogs??
All that's left to say about this thread is that it's getting a little off topic. I'll admit, I keep coming back to look at this for the responses to certain comments, but *shrugs* I say we let rednhot do what he/she will want, we all know our gars will look better and live longer.

what would even be better is if someone actually retained some knowledge from these debates. having an opinion is great, but ignoring valid information that others are providing is somewhat obnoxious. sure maybe we havent worded things as nicely or as simple as many need to be able to comprehend what is being said, but if it's not undertood then just ask for further clarification. we have been providing much info that has been completely disregarded. i say if one wants to feed live food to there gar then let them...
I know that I've gotten quite a bit of info from reading posts by Jordan and Poly...and it's made a remarkable difference in the way my fish look and act....healthier, more robust colors, more active etc., so they must have some merrit
