Monster for 55g?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You're a bit limited with the width unfortunately. I would get a 75 if you don't already have the tank. If you do I really like the firemouth, salvini, etc. idea with a senegal bichir or two for bottom dwellers. Maybe an african brown knife too with the more peaceful cichlids? Would be an interesting mix but I've seen that combo work.

oscar or flowerhorn hands down.

so, you suggest two fish that the OP has already explicitly ruled-out, and for good reason

you either didn't read any of the thread, or are making a joke . . . if you are making a joke, at least have the courtesy to add a :D or ;) or some other clue, so we can all share in the laugh

I still believe a gulper cat is the closest thing to a "Monster" you can put in there

im surprised no one said piranha. a 55 could hold 3-4 pretty ez. they are monsters, smaller monsters lol. ne thing with teeth is a good idea IMO

please tell me that is sarcasm, im assuming that either it is or that you just did not read the first post.

and no to oscars as well, ive seen them reach sizes over 10 inches.

There's no reason why you couldn't keep a single flowerhorn in a 55.

Personally I'd go with a midas or a large pike cichlid.

id say get some clown loaches like 4 you should be able to keep them for about 2 or 3 years maybe longer, they tend to grow slowly. then sell them for some $$ so you can afford a decent size tank at least get a 90gal those are 18"inch wide and your options open up a bit more or if you want something aggressive get a few fire mouth cichlids like 5 would work nice too...!
