I would buy it but for a very very low price. with the possibility of life long deformation it wouldn't be a very nice show piece. but a cool fish none the less and if you wanted it for nothing more then to say you have a GATF then get it. but if you're looking for a public aquarium speciem then I wouldn't.

Doubt it will heal but still a nice find....

It should heal somewhat,the redness at least but it may be deformed for life.I would get it at a good price of course,then you can put aside the savings toward a flawless Goliath.

I doubt it will ever heal back to it's original elongated mouth. That is a pretty damaged snout. Actually takes away the look of a GATF =-(

I have to say... this is my 100% experience...lol

The Goliath I had at 12" was in perfect condition when I bought him.... I remodeled my house and took down my 300 so I had to put the Goliath in a 50gl temp (I know... I know...). With in 2 weeks he only had 3 teth deep left on his snout (it was knocked off completely) and by the time I sold him... he was just missing his 2 front teeth.

All-Happy can vouch for me as he seen the pics of his snout at his worst and he bought him from me when he had 2 teeth missing.

I asked him the other day how hes doing and said he is almost 100% Goliath

So looking at that pic, Id have to say it would take about 8 months to a yr as my old guy is taking over a yr to recover... point being that it will heal... 100% posotive or tell me to just get out of the hobby cause I know nothing...

GET IT BIG DOGG!!! A GOLIATH IS A GOLIATH and the only loss is you not paying enough for it (discount for damaged goods)

Someone search my posts on my Goliath and bring back the HORRIBLE memories ...

Just stick to the normal water changes (so it dont get infected... signs of that is black spots) and salt to help the healing

So, just with my pic that is more damaged that yours... Id buy it (if you have the patience to heal him). As slow as they grow and as fast as they heal... Id get it since it is not the full price it should go for.

thanks west! it's 200usd(300sgd) with live arrival, compared to 145usd(220sgd) for a 6-7incher, no delivery. which is a better deal? im leaning to this one

just to make sure, in other words it will heal 100% in 8-12months estimate if it's on recovery?

btw im sorry about yrs, damage looked horrible

But looking at the love taps on that Goliath compared to my old Goliath... Id say the Odds are highly in you favor if my guy made it back

oh they will...im thinking i might have to grow it out to 15-18inches first....but i will decide if i am going to add it straight into the big tank after viewing the fish.
