Why do big game hunters not use military style firearms? A VERY nice magazinge fed, bolt action in .50 BMG could be had for the price of your rifle.

The advantages, to me, far out weigh the disadvantages. You will get MUCH cheaper ammo, more uses then just hunting, MUCH less recoil, and I would be willing to guess way more accurate at longer ranges. Maybe the only disadvantage is weight.

I don't think you're allowed military weapons/ammo in African safaris.

600 OVERKILL - ALL COPPER BULLET - $325.00 per box of 20

holy crap! haha. every single aspect of this gun is overkill.

bloody hell

Still think it's a sweet gun but I'm also in the thinking of why not just get a .50cal You don't have to get a barrett if you don't like them. I guess I'm just wondering for the moeny why not get the 50 as opposed to this gun?

Can you run down the advantages and disadvantages of each gun in your own opinion and help a few of us out?

The 50BMG is just not a practical dangerous game cartridge. The major reason is the weight of the rifle. You don't want to be hauling a 20lb rifle around Africa for miles while searching for elephant.

You hunt elephants on foot?

You can get permits to hunt them rarely.
But if ur hunting elephant then money aint an issue.
Wouldnt a .505 empire or gibbs, .500 jeffery or something along thos line work just as well without the cost? i believe they are cheaper ammo and such. could be wrong.
