possibly, but cmon. if one of us got swine flu, we wouldn't be able to take nearly a month off..... why should brock be able to say a month out that he is too ill to compete? Too bad if you couldn't train all that time. You don't think others have gotten ill and not been able to train as hard? It is down right pathetic.

c'mon dude, having the flu let alone swine flu and calling off the fight is understandable at this point. The usual training camp lasts 8 weeks. If you are sick 2-3 weeks you are severly cutting your training time. remember that when you get better, and go back to the gym you aren't 100%. you still need time to recover after you've gotten over the flu. I'd say postpone the fight so that if Brock does lose, there's no excuses.

I want them both to be healthy for the fight, no questions, no excuses.

Your talking about a guy who has to cut from 300lbs. Thiers no way he can cut weight and train for this fight in less than a month. He needs at least a solid 6-8 weeks of training.

I agree with you on everything except that carwin will destroy him.

I think Carwin is over hyped. Not questioning his ability but he still needs to prove a lot. He was getting rocked by Ganzaga and could've easily be on the other end of a ko highlight reel. That was his only notable win really. All others he beat were level b fighters at best at this point.

I give the fight to Lesnar actually. And I say Cain would've knocked Carwin out of title contention.
if nothing else, carwin has had more fights, more MMA training, and IMO has proven more than lesnar. lesnar was given big time opportunities before he should have. I think lesnar would be rocked by gonzaga if he ever was given the opp to fight lesnar. but thats a side point anyways

Of course he talks crap about Fedor, he has to. Just like how they started calling Silva "the best pound for pound fighter" to discount Fedor. I would love to see leagues done away with so everyone can fight everyone and watch Fedor walk all over everyone in the UFC.

LOL, that would never happen!

I don't get it?

A guy is sick and can't train for almost a month, and the title of your thread is "more UFC card disappointment"?

Are fighters not allowed to get sick or injured?

And because one guy got sick, that means that the whole heavyweight division isn't any good?

I just don't think the heavweight cards have been very interesting as of late, and i am disappointed that this fight is going to be even longer of a wait. Injured is one thing, but sickness...... i bet that lots of guys train through sickness and you never even hear about it. I am being very critical too b/c dana white continuously is hyping the heavyweights and saying that it is more exciting than ever. And then he hypes guys like kimbo slice, who has only become more boring as time goes by.

Frank Mir also had more fights, and more MMA training and is also a BJJ black belt, but Lesnar still smashed his face in.

I agree that Lesnar didn't deserve the shot so soon. But it's not his fault. He was presented with an opportunity and he took it, who wouldn't. Dana is a business man, he made a move that would be a big draw and make money while at the same time trying to please fans with great fights. It proved he was right, they sold out seats and Lesnar has beaten 2 ranked fighters in Randy and Mir. Not only eeking out a decision but stopped them decisively. Carwin does have more mma experience, I never said he didn't, the thing is, I felt the same way about Carwin as I did for Lesnar, but Lesnar proved himself to me anyways. Carwin hasn't yet. Lesnar owned a highly regarded Heath Herring which is maybe a gatekeeper at best but beating Randy and Mir also shows deserves to be where he's at now.

The gonzaga fight is Carwin's only notable win still. He may be the next champ who knows, but he will have to prove himself first. Personally, I don't think he'll be champ as long as Cain, Big Nog and Lesnar are around. I think Kongo would knock Carwin out

agree

does anyone else think that mir was maybe a bit overconfident and borderline arrogant going into this fight? mir is known to be arrogant with interviews which may give some insight into how he really thinks

Dude, Mir is his own biggest fan. He's right on somethings but he gives himself waaaaaay too much credit. And I do think he comes off as a doosh sometimes

He thinks he's god for beating Big Nog which anyone who ever followed Big Nog before UFC know's he's over the hill in MMA years. He's taken too many beatings and just doesn't move like how he used to. The old Big Nog would own Mir. And he's also said that he's one of the guys Fedor needs to fight to prove he's the best hw let alone p4p king.

What I wanna know is, what has Mir done to deserve to be in the same ring as Fedor?

That all being said, he should beat Kongo but he better not stand and trade with Kongo, he's gonna get laid out. But on the ground he should be able to sub Kongo. We'll see.

I have heard recently that it was more like a month-month and a half that he was out. There is no way that you can prepare for a high level fight under those circumstances, let alone the heavyweight title fight.

Dana is a hype machine, but in this case he is more right than wrong. The UFC heavyweight class is full of guys who have tons of potential, and are possible title holders. I think a case could be made that it is the strongest of the UFC divisions, or at least the second strongest.
