I got my one from Richard at Wharf Aquatics in Pinxton, UK. He is about 32" now and like a Clarius on steroids. Richard has one that is bigger but I dont know if there are anymore in the country. He is shortly to go in a 10' x 4' x 3' definitely on his own!! When i feed him i dont open the glass out all the way as he will come staright out. He has banged me a couple of times but luckily I had my hand palm down so he couldnt hold on.

Yes, I seen Richard's in his fish house last May and it' huge. The mouth/head on the thing must be at least 8" wide and it's very heavy bodied. It's the family pet called "Billy". A great looking fish. He threw in a handful of pellets and it came up with a splash, head half out of the water, and they were all gone in seconds. Most things would not even touch the sides when the mouth if fully open, an even bigger mouth than a RTC.

How aggro are lince cats?

I've always wanted one, but my tanks are all too small for them. They do look dangerous though..

what size is Billy now? I remember it was mentioned a few years back when Practical Fishkeeping did an article on Richard and his Fish Hse. What size aquaria was it in?

Him being so enthusiastic about them made me buy mine. Do you know anyone else who has one in the UK.:nilly:

Want a pac man cat as well but the ones advertised a far too much money for the size. Danny at tropical Imports is trying to get me one.

Be good

I'd say he was about 34", he was in one of the bottom tanks, I'm sure it was a 6' L x 3'W x 2' D. Richard said he had him for 13 years! I don't know anyone else who has them in the UK. I think the best looking cat by a mile is the Lince Cat. Phil from "Just Cats" that does catfish and rays in Yorkshire has a gorgeous one in his huge main tank. There's no way I could house an adequate tank for one of them though. There are big tanks and there are BIG tanks. Not just the physical size but their speed and activity levels. PFK ran an article a few years ago on him. I think the tank was around 12'L x 4'Wx3'D and the Lince (called "Speedy") was around 30" at that time. I've seen a few Lince cats but none with the colour of that specimen, it had great silver and metallic blues tones.

Mentzer, what is a Lince Cat I have not heard of them before. I have seen Phil's website, he has a Pac man cat and some other cool cats but I get most of mine from either Dan at Tropical Imports (UK), Wharf Aquatics or Swallows in East Harling, Norfolk. I have a 12 x 4 x 3 that has my mix of big cichlids and cats but would like to see what the Lince looks like
Regards

Hi, I shall dig out the PFK today, scan the pic and post it. Lucky you are near East Harling. I have a good friend in South Wootton, King's Lynn and he took me to see Swallows twice, it's an impressive shop - but not as good as Wharf, Richard and Sean are very helpful. I'd love to see any pics of your 12x4x3. Could you PM any?
Thanks

Over in California at the moment for a few more weeks but will send some when back. Think that Swallows has an awesome marine section and the reptiles too but i do like the oddballs at Wharf (not on about Richard) but the fish!!!
