Holy crap do I hate car forums....I actually felt quite at home as soon as this page popped up even though i havent posted in awhile. As a 17 year old MFK is literally the nicest fourm I have ever been on. Our newbies are not obliterated, our seasoned vets are not pretentious buttheads. I am no rookie on this forum, but even when I was MFK still kicked ass... Cheers to you guys :clap

Car fourms.
Rule number 1: Research before you ask. If you can't find what your looking for through research...you are either stupid or don't deserve to own the car.

Rule #2: You have to have a post count over 3 digits in order not to be smacked around by the 20K post count members.

Rule #3: You have to be at least 21 or you are banished to civic world.. (even tho I (17) just finished swapin a bmw m60 clyinder head)

Rule #4 You need to be an english major.

Rule #5 No one will believe you if you say you can afford it. If you are -21, and money really isn't a problem.....tough.

Basically im tuckin my tail between my legs and stickin to fish forums...:(

All in all, I love every MFK member you guys are the best. Never change.:hearts:

May your fish live long and your water shine clear!:arapaimag

Honestly I like the friendly feeling now. Ya the noobs are kinda annoying sometimes but, I would rather have that then the unrelenting reign of terror by long time members to the noobs...

Agree with the OP, have been on a few car forums like that, and before this was on another fish forum like that.
I know I've probably asked some noobish questions, but never gotten flamed down horribly.

And honestly, with all the myriad info on Google, sometimes the easiest way to get a simple, direct answer is ask here, instead of digesting tons of articles that are only partially relevant to fill in each other's blanks...

I mean, it just depends. The thing with a forum is your posts are there forever (well as long as the forum is running). Someone googles a subject years after a thread is done, it will pop up.
You get people investing very large sums of time and money in something, you want good info to be out there if you're a forum member. Start getting into the "advanced" sub forums, those conversations should be more advanced.
There was a former mod posting a while back on how "freshwater fish can't absorb internal parasite medication from the water column because they don't drink water." On several threads. I posted a number of peer reviewed studies proving that wrong. On top of that I knew it was wrong just from personal experience. They (probably wisely) never replied after that, but if they had, yeah, I would have kept at them about it.
I only have so much patience for someone posing as an authority figure in a subject that gives out blatantly bad information. With a car, if you get some bad advice, maybe you turn around and screw something up royally.

Interesting observations made by the thread starter.I am a member of two car forums and two gun forums and from what I have seen the car guys are mostly helpful and courteous to others but on one of the gun forums there seems to be quite a bit of trash talking keyboard warriors.I guess it depends on the forum as I can easily imagine there being quite a bit of pompous and stuck up posters on a Beemer site.

Have you gone to online gaming forums??
No you don't want to go in a gaming forum... If you have a low confidence, you don't definitely want a lower confidence level.

Nope....can't say I've tried any of the gaming forums.I imagine copious amounts of trash talking from punks and smart mouthed bratty kids so I doubt if any of it would would bother me very much.
