water changes all the way! w/o them the fish health is bad, the filtering would then be useless and without fish whats the point of lighting? so there. thats what i think

good point. plants can absorb ammonia and nitrates and nitrites, suckers can get rid of algae and other waste, so can snails and less messy fish can help reduce the above. lol i just denied my last post.

also i think lighting is helpful since without good lighting the fish wont be happy.
